Also, Xenonauts is not complete yet. Its currently *goes to check for updates*

...In almost-Beta. They're expecting brokenness so the game's going to be in a in-between state between alpha/beta until its again playable.
Aye, I mentioned this in a later post. Xenonauts is still very much alpha.

The spawns for VIP missions seem to be heavily scripted (ie, they drop in certain places, and immediately go into overwatch mode).

This means if you have people in the right place on the turn they drop, you can instantly kill them and be done with it. If you dont, theyre absolutely terrifying (they get off a reaction shot when you move, and then an additional shot on their turn. Thin men rifles are mean.)

Also, if I am not mistaken one of the classes has an upgrade for overwatch that allows them to fire when enemies move out to fire. I think that puts it closer to reaction firing of old, but I am not sure when or where that upgrade comes up.

Bloody XCOM "pre-loaded" 12GB. Now it's "updating" 12GB. What's the bloody point of preloading if you need to re-download the whole thing again on release???
Apparently there was a bugfix release. That's probably what's downloading.

Patch notes.

Usually I buy direct from publisher but this time I got it from Steam.  How do I confirm the patch is installed, anyone know?
... and then we'll have cake.

You can't launch a game on steam unless it is patched (the exception being if you're in offline mode or specifically told it not to update that game, it defaults to updating though). So it should automatically patch, and if it doesn't for whatever reason launching the game will start patching.

sooo, blind trust.  Meh.  I did do an integrity verification and it had to re-update, so my guess is something got jammed.

Hmm, that's strange. My games usually update, and if they don't they will when I try to launch. I guess the ultimate test is to try doing something mentioned in the patch notes. Like testing multiplayer text chat support.

my game was patched about 12 hours ago, on steam.

iirc one of the obvious changes was some new buttons on the tactical thing.

Steam usually mentions that it got a download for a game...not sure where you can verify it in the Steam program though, number for number. Probably just open up the game and look for the version number the game is on.

It's always been region-blocked, hasn't it?

Just lost 6 of the worlds finest men to a terror attack.

Just as I thought I was getting the hang of this..
