I'll likely be waiting until a little after release to read some reviews, as I'm torn between both this and dishonored. I want to see which if any are overhyped before deciding to lay down any money.

I'll hold off just to avoid any launch/early big bugs or whatever.  Roughly the same reason I usually avoid betas, they can be fun but often I've played out much of the initial enthusiasm during a time when the game wasn't very polished, when I would have had more fun playing it in a finished state.

But yea, definitely want this.

Well, if everything goes "as planned", it'll likely not unlock for play until the 12th, since I'm in EU.

I could not resist and I bought yesterday. Playing free Civ V now that went with purchase. May be I'll regret buying it later, but oh well.

I'm holding off until I get a chance to play it. I absolutely hated Civ V and I'm afraid I'll hate XCOM for all the same reasons.

Iirc there's a demo of this XCOM on steam, or do you mean something else?

The demo is a highly scripted linear battle set on easy, and is in no way indicative of actual game play. I want to actually sit down and play the real game before I buy it.

Oh, not exactly what I'd call a demo, but I guess there's no other commonly used marketing term for it.

Yeah, the demo really is absolutely terrible.

I viewed it as more of a "Will this game run on my computer" tech demo than anything. Besides, a lot of my concerns involve late game and overall strategic play, rather than the tactical game (Which seems mostly right) so yeah, nothing a demo would really answer (Unless they do demos like you guys do in which case, that would be ace).

Tech demo is a good description of it.

I am actually hoping this doesn't suck, a proper modernization of turn based games could be a very good thing.. and I kinda liked the ant-farm style of base building.. whish more games would do that.

Take a look at the RPS review.

Basically, it's pretty good. Pretty gosh darned good indeed.
