Video Development ~ Need better quality!
« on: January 06, 2011, 09:03:27 am »
I have been inactive on this forum for awhile, but I have returned for some help.

To fool around and waste time I have been recording game play with fraps.
The problem isn't fraps, I can record videos taking up to 2 gigabytes for a measly 1minute video. So they are coming out very high quality.

Now the problem is my video editor, Obviously to reduce the gigabytes I shoved the footage into Windows Movie Maker which worked like a charm.
I somehow degraded the quality too low but when I max out the quality in the options its only 50mbs for the file size.

It is a bad quality, so I would like you guys to recommend me what to do. ^_^
Although I do have a feeling its the movie maker, but I just like to get involved with the forum again asking this small favor.

I use corel video studio as an inexpensive piece of software that has excellent quality and speed. For the trailers, etc, I render stuff in HDV 30.

Good to see you again!

For a stupidly overconvoluted process that will produce wicked quality content, see my guide on YouTube.

Here's the page where people have reckoned good methods via recording...many...games PC and otherwise:

Must be working well given it playing a role in being accepted for onsite submissions of various quality levels.

It has been awhile but today I decided to get back to attempt at video editing.

I went ahead and tried a trail version of Sony Vegas and the end result is this.

At 480p that looks pretty decent, though not at fullscreen.  I imagine that if you can get it up to 720p or higher, that will look significantly better, the way that you want.

I actually never went above 320p for my previous videos. :P

So now doing what you suggested X.
720p does look massively better.
