I hate to complain. As the new background is pretty cool, but is there any way we can get the forum background in as a profile option?

I browse the forums on my phone quite a bit, and I really prefer the minimalist no background look on my phone, also it saves having to load the background every refresh which would be nice.

Not a problem, I actually meant to keep the old theme around (and had backed up its folder), but apparently SMF doesn't just read every folder by default.  I have now configured that properly so that you can get the old one as the Arcen 2012-era theme.  If you or someone knows how users can switch their own theme (it's somewhere in settings), that would be useful to post.  I feel stupid for not being able to find it. ;)

I really like the new site design.  And thanks for all the wallpapers!

Thanks!  And you're welcome. :)

I don't mind the background on my computer. It's for mobile that I would want to disable the background. I'm assuming this fix wouldn't affect that?

Just as an FYI, the background is hugely optimized so that it is only 127kb or so for a 1920x1080 sized image.  The cache settings are also really aggressive, so your phone should not download it repeatedly at all.  Unless the phone is either dumping cache frequently or doing something else unusual, anyway.  Overall the new theme uses about 120kb more in terms of images than the old one does, because the older header and footer images were not well optimized it turned out.

Ah!  I found it.  Go into your Profile, click Look and Layout Settings, and then way up at the top there is a link that says Current Theme: Forum or Board Default (change).  It seems so out of place where it is that I kept looking right past it.

Really good point on the forums!  I really like what you are doing there, although you made me realize just how bland the color of the headers on the main page were.

The header links are now: #B1FB3B, #c7ff6d hover.

The regular links already were: #7ab817, #8fe704.

I'm definitely up for helping to make the forums more consistent.

Honestly flatline, i think the green looks terrible. They grey in whats currently empty space between boxes looks flatter to me, but it does feel more consistent.
However it turns out its not my site, its Arcen's, I just felt like voicing something about the last few posts. :)

True, I'd rather be less consistent and keep the current colors, honestly.  But I do like the borders and such on the headers and whatnot that make it a little more consistent.  In the main I'm pretty happy with what we have already, though -- it's familiar and comfortable, but has the new BG.

The new forum new/no new icons look GREAT.

My only complaint is that the current "just a folder" (i.e. for the boards that aren't associated with a game) for no new posts looks like the old "new posts" icon.

Thanks!  I just used the colorized ones for the "nothing new" and then added a "new" on top of the ones that do have something new.  I realize that's something temporarily confusing with the empty folders, but I'm not really sure what else to do with those.

Take the sheet of paper out of the folder? :P
I realize that's a bit harder, but it would be less confusing and more distinctive. :)

Still better than the Minecraft forum's new icons.

Yeeikes!  Yeah, those icons are rough.

Anyhow, I will look at doing a replacement for the folder thing when I get done with the next linux port, thanks. :)

Yeeikes!  Yeah, those icons are rough.

Yeah, and when they pushed the new site out of beta and into production, the "jump to new post" feature didn't work, the WYSIWYG editor had issues, infractions (even expired ones) were getting constantly re-applied... (well, the user was informed of the infraction with every page load, although it mechanically didn't do anything).  It's been awful.

Most of the (functionality) issues are now gone, although a lot of people still hate the design.  Myself included.
