With grindy I meant the gameplay, stuff lives too long, regenerating health, etc. The game is simply too fast paced to have weapons do 70 dmg when someone has 2500 HP ,p And conversely if 2 brutes camp on the flag it takes forever go grind them down to corpses.
or have the random luck of hitting with the spinfusor in a chase
Also in the case i described I hit the dude 100% of the entire magazine (it was my last), that just ain't no fun.
You seem to be mistaking "fast paced" with "instakilling everything". It's a feature of Tribes that nothing dies easily (except for that bloody generator). It's by design. You're supposed be live for a bit, especially if you're a heavy. Very little in Tribes is actually inolving direct kills (save for TDM). In CTF, you have jobs to do, depending on your role. You only kill people that get in your way of that goal. Your goal is never to kill anyone. (Save for a bombarding heavy, or running capper)
If two Brutes are camping the flag, they're doing it wrong
Brute is an assault class that excels at indoors combat. There should be Dumbbringers (sorry Doombringers) on the flag. Anyways, there are ways to deal with that too. If I'm a capper, I pick a backwater route to the flag so they don't instantly see me coming. I ask my team to clear the flag stand (taking out turrets, mines and any HoF) so that I'm free to cap.
And yes, killing a heavy on the flag is tough work. It's intentional. It's not the cappers job to clear the flag stand. His job is go bazillions of Km/h to snag the flag and get back home alive.
Hitting someone "by luck" with a spinfusor happens very seldomly. Aim for the spots where he'll land, or where he needs to touch the ground to ski. Don't try to snag him in the air unless you are insanely good at predictions. Or stupidly close, but then the shotgun would be better suited. Also, automatics are gold for chasing.
Last note: If you ran out of ammo on the heavy, switch to your backup weapon and finish him off. If you were out of ammo on that too, grenade him. If you didn't have any grenades, MELEE him. If you can't, well...really? If he didn't have regenating health, you wouldn't have killed him regardless, so what is really your issue here?
EDIT: I'm sorry if I come across as "elitistic" or "fanboyish" here. It's not my intention. But, from my perspective, it looks like most, if not all, of your criticism stems from the fact that you simply do not understand the game yet. It might be that T:A is not a game for you. But don't judge it by the same metrics as your cookie cutter shooter, because it was never intended to be that way. They made some big steps away from Tribes (regen health being one of them) but most of them for good reason.
My current gripes with the games are the call-ins. They severely unbalance the game in CTF and are all but useless in TDM. They should be removed, save for the Supply depot call in. Or made insanely more expensive. Being able to clean out an entire flag stand for 4k credits is just beyond stupid. Thankfully, custom servers take care of that nicely.
