Judging from your review it is still a P2W grind fest. Either you pay, or you have to grind for months.
Which puts this game on my hype meter somewhere below Farmville. Yeah so its tribes done right. Sadly its P2W instead of a proper game.
An interesting take on my review. Hmm....
I'd say Farmville is far worse personally, at least with Tribes there is some fun. Farmville is faking the fun of a game.

Actually, I got the same impression from your review. Suppose someone set out to never pay money to this game, how long do you guess it would take to purchase a 4th class (say, the Technician)?
Not long actually, its something now that I think about I didn't cover as well, I make a line that unlocking classes is balanced but I never stated how long it actually took. So I looked up creation date and I've been playing for almost two months, with conservative play. I've unlocked four classes and a quite a number of the upgrades for armor and such. So its entirely possible to have quite a few of the classes unlocked in a few months if you try.
That said, I did make the complaint that the game encourages specialization over generalization due to how long it takes to get unlocks so I will grant what you guys are saying. Its not necessarily pay-to-win from what I've seen thus far, as the next tier guns aren't necessarily more powerful, just have different abilities/applications. But that could change.
I've never paid for the game and don't plan on doing it anytime soon, too poor heh. And so far I'm having fun and don't feel like I'm getting stabbed by a bunch of rich people lol.
