I was tempted to make
this link the entirety of this post, but that wouldn't have been enough. There Came an Echo is a squad based RTS controlled almost entirely via vocalization. As in talking. As in you plug in a microphone to tell people what to do. It's worth recommending for the novelty factor alone, but then there's the soundtrack. BigGiantCircles and Ronald Jenkees composed, and they're two of my favorite e-music artists.
Jenkees has a bandcamp, the first six songs in Alpha Numeric are in TCAE. As for the story... I'll admit I've yet to finish the game, but what I'm starting to see in the mid-game has me saying "What", and at least one person is comparing later revelations favorably to Metal Gear Solid 2. I'm looking forward to seeing if TCAE manages to outdo the twists from Sequence (Iridium's last game).
Full disclosure: I was a Kickstarter backer and so my copy of the game was "free". Actually paying for the game before diving in would not change my feelings on the title, but it might someone else's.
