Mark of the Ninja worked pretty well on my laptop (to the point where I actually did a bit worse once I had a desktop, because the desktop ran it better) 2d, Klei-style graphics, good stealth game.

yea I've heard of that the main reason I haven't had a go at it is because I was worried it wouldn't run well enough but ill take your word for it that it'll run well thanks.

Monaco is Stealth based (and actually a co-op game). You can play it alone or with friends, if you play alone you will have more success in getting undeteced away.

Gunpoint was a pretty good stealth game in my opinion. The game is also very punishing if you are too loud. A single hit can kill you, so you either have to remain hidden or you have to find a way to dodge attacks.

Invisible Inc. is a turn based stealth game about agents and other stuff. It's pretty good but since it is turn based it is very easy to avoid enemies.
If you are into horror games: Lone Survivor. It's a 2D horor game where ammo for your weapons are rare and it's better to avoid monsters. You can distract monsters or you can hide in dark sections in the background.

I honestly play don't much Stealth games and every other one I have willl probably not run on your laptop.

funnily enough I have both invisible ink and gun point haven't got round to invisible but I have played gun point and I love it and yes I have read about Monaco but I had the impression that it was game intended for co op if it is decent fun solo and yea lot of games(that have stealth elements in them) do take a lot of processing power how ever I have crisis 3 and dishonoured on my console crisis stealth is decant although the bow is very over powered but I love dishonoured.(even if it isn't hard)

I've heard good things about, and purchased, Not the Robots.
That said, I highly recommend Deus Ex.  It is actually the game that made me like stealth.  Not because it was required, but because it wasn't.

yes I have heard of not the robots I'm just worried it whom run properly and deus ex(human revolution) isn't really a stealth game its more to me one of those games with stealth elements in them but personally I wasn't really able to get into that game because of its combat really since I don't particaly enjoy first person shooting and the stealth didn't feel that well fleshed there really wasn't a reason I could think of to go lethal rather than non lethal.

I got it because it was cheap and I'd heard good things and generally like FPS games that have plot to them.  I stayed because the stealth felt really enjoyable.

If you don't have them already, the Thief series. The games are about, who could have guessed, a thief you play. It plays in a medieval fantasy world with slight steampunk influence.
Every level is a job you get, stealing a specific item.
The games come with handdrawn maps of the building you plan to rob, which I like more than the computer generated maps you see in every other game.
You can use different arrows to achieve your goals. Fire arrows light enemies and other stuff, water arrows extinguish torches and remove blood stains on floors, moss arrows mute your movements, rope arrows give you access to new routes. There are some more but it's more interesting to find them on your own.
The game heavily emphasize that you should take the silent route and never harm anyone (on the highest difficulty you are even not allowed to harm anyone or you immediatly fail your contract). While you have (at least in the first game) a sword, it won't help you much because a single enemy can already kill you easily. You are a thief after all and not an assassin. As far as I remeber drawing the sword makes also a lot of sound and the blade reflects light sources, making you better visible in dark corners. It is always better to just knock them out and hide their bodies away. It won't leave a blood stain that way that you have to remove (saving water arrows).
The games got a lot of praise because of their unique gameplay. They are really very fun to play and I can always suggest them. Except the last one (Thief from Square Enix).
While I  really like the other purchased franchises of SE (Tomb Raider, Hitman, Deus Ex), I don't like Thief from them. It isn't a bad game but it is very bad optimised, making even a very good PC cry. This is a common problem and despite the existence of several fan made fixes for the fps drops and stuttering graphics, SE themself fail to admit that they messed this one up and never showed up with a patch (and never will, the game is too old for that). even my pc had problems with it and I had TR turned on its highest graphic settings with no problems.
It's just a mess and taints the entire game. Plus, you have one of the most annoying starts and sidekicks I've ever seen in any video game. The whole prologue is so annoying, I wanted to stop. It gets better afterwards (because your sidekick disappears) but thereare still a lot of flaws. For example there are absolute no uses for your arrows.
I got dozens of water arrows but almost every light source in this game is electrical and you have to find a switch, walk to it and press it to turn it off. And the few non-electric light sources are always next to a guard who lights it up at he moment you put it out.

New one not counted, the thief games are old games. They will run fine.

Can't think of any other games, but for performance on my laptop:
Thief, Invisible Inc. and Monaco all work fine.
Mark of the Ninja is a bit choppy, but still playable.
Gunpoint used to work fine, but it's taken to crashing whenever I load it up for some reason.
