I must admit, I did pick one game up. The Last Federation + DLC. Actually, I did own the base game but never got into it. I picked up the DLC now and am about to give it a proper whirl.

Ooh, good luck with that one.  That game ended up being pretty darn enjoyable if you can get to that point where it just "clicks" for you.

One thing with the DLC, the Obscura are not meant to be attacked directly in combat if you dont absolutely have to.  Chris told me to make them into crazed bullet-hell monstrosities, so crazed bullet-hell monstrosities are what they are.  They're meant to be overwhelming and you're mostly supposed to just run from them.  But they CAN still be beaten in battle.... if you fight them one at a time.  The attacks are all TECHNICALLY dodgable.  Even in that turn-based format.  Guaranteed.  But good luck actually doing it.

All of the other new ships are mostly normal, except for the Parasite which can steal ships from you.

And that's my advice for the first DLC.  I like to point that out as some players go into it thinking that they're meant to attack the Obscura directly just like you would any other race, and then they wonder why the things are unstoppable nightmares.

There's also Betrayed Hope, which is the first expansion, with the Obscura and the 2 new modes.  And some new smaller ships and other things.

TLF is also on my to do list next month, I've put it off too long with other strategy titles that I wanted to tackle first (Grey Goo, Frozen Cortex, Rise: Battle Lines, etc). I'm looking forward to it. I've already played some of it but I just haven't dedicated to actually playing it, especially when the two expansions came onto the scene.

RE: Talos Principle.. so far I definitely think this game is on par, if not well beyond Portal 2 in terms of variation and execution. The terminals (least in the vanilla game, no idea about DLC yet) are interesting in so far as they are about a well known problem, perception of self is not quantifiable, meaning you can not prove that you are human. So if the terminal asks you to do just that, to prevent a bot script attack.. hehe.

Anyway, 7 hours in found all 10 stars in area A.. and got insta stuck on area B... did the bonus levels, found the developer easter.egg map ;P Great fun all in all. And gets very very difficult later on it seems. (I am stuck on Eagles Nest currently, and not quite ready to youtube that)

I forget what section it is, but the puzzles you have to deal with time manipulation get pretty wild!

How much longer does this sale go, does anyone know?  Just out of curiosity.

So far for me, it really has been the most worthless of all of the sales.  Bought Dungeon of the Endless.  ....that's it.   There's nothing else at all.

Just... ugh.  Right now even bloody Gamestop is more interesting.

For all that I was mocking the winter sales, I actually ended up spending over $100 on 20-something games.
I just only bought 1 thing from Steam, the other 20+ came from other sites - Humble, BundleStars, GMG, GoG, Amazon, Microsoft, Amazon, WinGameStore, Nuuvem...  Microsoft was especially nice to me this year, as it turns out I could turn Bing points into Amazon points, and then either spend them there or turn them into Steam money through gift cards.  With Bing giving me almost $100/year, that's pretty generous of them  ;)

Still, I got some good prices on stuff I'd wanted.  Pillars of Eternity, Shadowrun: HK, Endless Legend and Dungeon of the Endless, DA:Inquisition GOTY, Victor Vran, and a whole bunch of minor stuff.

Weren't you the one that said thatthis will end in bad discounts?  :P

I bought some good games I think. On top of the list is Shadowrun Hong Kong, this is a pretty good game. I didn't spend too much money on the sale because I preordered XCOM 2.

This sale certainly had better discounts then the previous ones. This is the first sale I broke three digits in one sale due to just how good the sales were
Life is short. Have fun.

Yeah, and I think that for Steam, the discounts were generally worse this time, compared to previous sales.  On the other hand, I found a lot of other stores doing "Beat Steam!"-type discounts, and was able to pick and scavenge my way to some really nice discounts.  For example, I bought Dungeons of the Endless from one store that had the same discount as Steam (75%, IIRC) but also had a coupon I could add to it.  I bought the Dungeons of the Endless DLC from yet another store that had a really good deal on that, but not so good on the base game.
If this keeps up, I might be able to maintain my inner CAG.  I still miss the older sales, but as long as there are still good deals to be found out there, I think this'll turn out alright.

To a point, I'm jaded from the early days (3-4 years ago) when almost everything hit 90% off during the short Flash Sales Steam would run.  I remember paying $1.99 for a Civ V expansion that was not even 6 months old yet.  These days, you're more likely to cap out at 50% or 75% for the first year or two of a AAA-title's lifespan, because that's the sale price for the entire two weeks.  Without the 8-hour Flash Sales, I think there just won't be the same extreme discounts.

I'm still going with "the sale was freakin' awful".

My whole thought on it while it was going is "Can this end already?  This interface is really annoying".

I bought like, 2 shmups, that's it.
