On a somewhat unrelated note, I've got an extra copy of Civ IV since Valve gave them out as an apology for accidentally marking Brave New World down after it was just released. Anyone want to trade something for it? I'll take just about anything of even minor value.

I've been trying to comprehend the Venn diagram of people who preorder Civilization expansions who do not own Civ 4.

Probably just people who came into the franchise with Civ V and didn't have time to look at the older games.

The current "Top Sellers" list *has* to be broken.

Wow, coincidence that A lot of those are Sega-published games?

Deus Ex: HR possibly for 3 dollars in the Community choice? Yes please.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

Is Sins Rebellion for 9.99 worth it for an AI War fan or should I just stick to AI War?

I'd say no, I tried Sins and I just can't get into it. While the look is nice, and I have fun zooming in for dramatic shots of ships blowing things up, the actual gameplay doesn't work for me. It's too much RTS, not enough 4X for me. I just can't do that whole hectic RTS thing well. I'm sure my APM is abysmal. Actions Per Minute? Hah! The way I play AI War, the more appropriate measurement would be Minutes Per Action. But if you're into that whole 'putting out fires in every corner of the galaxy without a second to breathe' feeling, go for it!

I'd say Sins is more 4X than it is RTS. Very slow combat, mostly results in blobs vs blobs and fights against the AI can take hours. And not fun amount of hours like AI War has. Don't get it if you're having fun with AI War. It's a very broad strategy game that looks pretty. It's a very different crowd they were shooting for with this game.

Knowing how popular Sins is, I wanted to be all contrary to the previous posts and say, "Go for it, it looks like a nice game!" But after watching a few gameplay videos, it looks kinda not all that satisfying to me. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6QBYF7F-yA

Don't buy Sins. It's simplistic, without tactics, more of an RTS than a 4x and not good at either.

That said, I tried AVWW and...well...I can see the parallels to AIW that would make the strategic play interesting, but I just can't get into the whole Side-Scrolling magic-spam gameplay affair. Is there a trick to it, or a particular perspective one should view it from?

I enjoy Sins now and then. It has a lot of similarities to AI War. It can be fun when I just want a relaxing game of "expand a space empire and blow up ships".

I don't know where this is coming from. It's no more or less frantic than AI War. Units move at a glacial pace and you can pause and give actions as often as you want. Things take a long time to die, so you have a lot of time to respond to things. I'd say you're much more likely to get caught with your pants down in AI War than in Sins.
