Heads up: Civ V gold upgrade is $5 for the next hour or so left of the deal. Doesn't have Brave New World, but it seems to have basically everything else civ V related if you're interested.

I was considering picking up both Endless Space: Gold and the GalCiv series, but that would've been a pretty nasty kick to the wallet. Ended up dropping ES based on the last few posts in its thread on this forum.

When I saw Endless Space on big sale, I though "Great!  I'll grab the expansion that supposedly fixes a lot of stuff!" only to discover that the base game and the Gold edition, which includes the expansion, are 66% off, but the expansion was only 10% off.  That's a bit insulting to the people that already bought the game.

Other than that narrow escape, Steam has already gotten me to buy a dozen or so little games I've had my eye on.  Like all the Ironclads naval sims... for 90% off!

I got a Bioshock one at one point and its going rate at the time was about $0.80.  Just to see what would happen I put it up for 0.50 (to me, 0.57 for the buyer due to valve's fees) and I got an email saying it had been purchased and the 0.50 credited to my steam wallet in like less than 30 seconds.  I'm not sure how high you can go and still get a sale.

I'l sitting on the other ones I get for now, I think, as the value may go up after the sale.  Since the getaway cards are only available through this sale, iirc.

Apparently they're like crates, except without the key need. But you have to have used up all your card drops or something.

Btw, Legend of Grimrock, FTL: Faster Than Light & The Walking Dead are all on sale and I recommend picking them up if you haven't yet. Anyone else have recommendations?

This week's humble weekly bundle is the entire spiderweb collection. It's all old school RPGs and is definitely worth a glance if you have a passing interest. I dabbled some in Genevieve awhile ago and will dip into it again at some point.

The whole collection is 15 games for pay what you want, with steam keys.

The recent XCOM is $10 for another 6+ hours.  I know opinions vary on how it compares to the original (or Xenonauts) but experienced as its own thing it's definitely a good game, well worth $10.

And I would recommend Anno 2070 for $15, but if you have any DRM allergies it's probably best to avoid.  I've really enjoyed the game itself in the past, though.

I'm....hesitant to recommend the new XCOM. I'm no old-school fan of the original but I didn't like some of the design decisions Firaxis made which drained my enjoyment of the game towards the latter half of the game. I never completed the campaign. That said, up until that exhaustion, I was having a ball with the game.

You get booster packs for having gotten all card drops a game has to offer. At random, card packs are distributed to people who have earned all of their cards when a full badge is made.

This seems to be a good moment to snap up Skyward Collapse, though. Do I get a DRM-free version from buying it on Steam, or am I locked into their platform?

Yea, iirc we've never opted to incorporate steam's drm with any of our games, so you can just run the .exe in their app folder.  To get a non-steam-dependent backup you can just copy the folder to a jumpdrive or whatever.  The game will probably run fine directly on said jumpdrive, actually, with no installation on whatever machine you plug it into.  Given that the steam version includes both the mac and the windows builds you could plug the jumpdrive in a windows machine, play a bit, then plug it in a mac and play with the same saves and settings.dat, etc...  But that's just the unity engine showing off
