I ended up going through pretty much the whole thing without buying anything.

Just.... bleh.  Nothing exciting right now.
I know the feel.

That said, I've recently lapsed into my Dwarf Fortress addiction again...

That's an easy one to fall into, yep.  Been there, done that...

Currently though I'm addicted to Isaac and things that even remotely look like it.  It's easy to fall into that one, too.  Even if I had bought something during the sale I probably wouldn't be playing it yet, because Isaac.

Transistor is in my opinion superior to Bastion in every single way. The battle system of that game is so well designed and the story itself is mysterious and interesting.

Interesting. While I agree that the battle system is awesome, and the world was cooler than Bastion's (in my opinion), I really didn't like the story as much. The ending in particular was very disappointing to me.
As far as I remember, I will agree with you. Bastion was more story focused than Transistor.
And that is a significant for me. Though both games a more than just playable. They are good.
