Heh. Finally got around to trying this, mostly because it got added to Steam and I could install it by just pushing a button. The free hat didn't hurt, either.
Kind of reminds me of Torchlight meets Free Realms (back in the early days before they completely destroyed the UI and made it unplayable) for some reason. It's mildly obnoxious that you can't do anything when you run out of energy for the day instead of just being limited to only low-level areas like Vindictus originally did, so even though you had somewhat restricted access per day if you didn't pay, you weren't stuck there with literally nothing at all you could do in the game.
The hit detection seems a bit wonky sometimes with the gun projectiles, which is a bit frustrating, but that's more than made up for by how ridiculously overpowered being able to attack with a ranged weapon while moving in an ARPG is. You can kite like nobody's business. Just to see how it would go, I tried getting to tier 2 using nothing but the starting equipment, and once you get your kite on, it's pretty trivial. You do move at about half speed while shooting, but as long as you fire in bursts and stop shooting right when something's attacking you, you can dodge easily. I haven't used my shield in hours, generally have more health restoration laying around than I know what to do with, and only use my sword to hit boxes and bushes, because it's slightly faster for that.
Is there any point at all in using charged shots? It seems to do about 50% more damage than a regular attack, but in the amount of time it takes to use one, I could fit in six normal ones...
