Space Pirates and Zombies 2

So SPAZ2 was announced. We all knew they would've liked to release it some day, but now it has a date, and a trailer. What are your feels for you who liked the first?

First game was good, but even though I tried multiple times, I could never finish it because it was EXTREMELY repetitive and the mechanics were often predictable and mundane. However, the game was absolutely screaming for multiplayer, and that feature in itself would have given it probably quadruple the replay value as it originally had. Given it's small original price tag, I'd say it was a decent indie game, but hopefully the second one can be great. (When I say great, I don't think it's going to be life-changing or anything, but just a solid co-op title that's fun to play on the weekends or whatever)

I'm excited. Any idea on a price tag?

None as of yet. Release date is Q1 2015, so I suspect we'll see one soon.

I'll probably buy this. This thread is now a year and a half old and I've been checking up on it pretty regularly.

My only major disappointment is that they didn't add campaign co-op. The game (at least the first one) just seems designed for it. I mean you literally have 3 wingmen basically on same screen with you, how hard would it have been to make them player controlled?

It's frustrating because I guess multiplayer will be in the game, but only in a pvp setting, which once again I do not understand from a player standpoint whatsoever. Well, even in spite of the fact that I guess I'll be playing it alone, I'm still excited to play it.

Technically this doesn't come out in a full release tomorrow.... it releases into early access.

But still, this looks good. I'll probably get it.  Clearly I need even more really addictive games right now.

It certainly sounds more put-together than most of EA I've heard of,though.

From what I understand, tomorrow is the full release. They skipped the opportunity to allow their customers to buy it in early access, and plan to add more features after tomorrow's release (like pvp multiplayer).

I could be misreading it though, but for sure it's been in (non-buyable) early access for many months.

One thing I'm confused about, it looks like they added a new "3D" combat mode that they use a lot in the trailer (and gameplay video) where you're either inside the cockpit or having a 3rd person view of the ship, even though they're very explicit about the fact that it's still technically a 2D battefield.

Did they remove the option to fight from a bird's eye (RTS) view like before? I can't tell. I liked that a lot and I hope they kept that in the game. I'd much rather do that than be inside the ship or hovering over it.

No, its literally been the Steam equivalent of Soon ever since it had a steam page. They posted updates on what went on on their forums or something like that though according to the description, and the steam page is fairly blunt as usual (now that its a proper buyable game) about how this is a bright blue EA title, although not a particularly 'early' one. Sounds fairly complete (and looks good enough from the LP videos I've seen of it today), but they need to do proper voice work and so on before they release it for realsies.

There is still a topdown view from what i understand. I'm probably going to get it, so i could try to confirm this tomorrow.

I just watched a bunch of their gameplay demo video, this one:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34G6moZ1BBg

Really, this looks bloody incredible.

What this makes me think of though:  Mount & Blade in space.  The way the map works, all the different independent characters that can act on their own, the different factions... all sorts of stuff reminds me of that game.

Except the zombie ships.

I think I'm buying this one ASAP, yep.

Also:  That tractor beam, now that just looks awesome.

Talking about weird things, apparently the store page does not have a buy button.. like.. why. Normally you can buy stuff before it releases but not here. That's a very silly decision if it was intentional, as I doubt I will check the store page again before the summer sale coming soon ;P
