Sonic Generations

I am a nostalgic gamer.  I don't like Modern Warfare or Battlefield, I like Duke 3D and Unreal Tournament.  I don;t like Super Mario Galaxy, but can still spend hours at a time ploding through Super Mario Bros 3 without the warp whistles.  I haven't played a decent Sonic game since (last week) Sonic 3 & Knuckles, I was even disappointed by Sonic 4 after playign the Sonic Fan Remix demo!  But when I saw Sonic Generations on Steam came with S3&K as a pre-order bonus, I took the plunge....

My God, what a brilliant mix of Sonic styles!!!!!!  The mix between classic 2D platforming, 3D obstacle courses and the old-school levels re-imagined (complete with soundtracks).. I am astounded as to the quality of game in every way so far (Just about to face the first boss).

I can't encourage you all to take a look at this, preferably on PC as apparently the console versions are apparently pants.

How are the physics? The physics in Sonic 4 were kind of off, especially in regards to momentum when not pressing forward.

Also, in the Genisis version, rolling is amazingly useful for speed. In most modern Sonic games, not nearly as much. How is it in Generations?

Both Sonic's play differently. The modern one the physics are still as off as ever, but the classic one is a lot closer to the old-style gameplay. It's not perfect but it's a LOT better than Sonic 4 was :)

I was skeptical myself (Still play Sonic 2 on my Genesis!) but after playing Generations on a friend's XBox, I had to go buy it. I couldn't stop smiling while playing. They completely nailed both play styles perfectly, and I LOVE how they re-imaged the levels in 2D and 3D.

Saw the Steam trailer of this, got intrigued so I decided to go watch TotalBiscuits "WTF is..." of it, and that sealed the deal. Bought it as a christmas present for my girlfriend (who is an absolute Sonic maniac).
