Enough. No more politics please. Open a thread about it if you want to have that but not here.

Okay, that's enough you two. Keep the politics out of it. I don't want to create another one of "those" threads. You wanna discuss politics-> to the PMs you go.

Yes, please. I'm happy if you guys want to talk politics in PMs or I suppose in a well-marked thread where people know what they are getting into. But in general I want to remain inclusive here, which to me makes this a place where we can all escape from certain aspects of the world. Having those discussions is one thing, but in threads where people stumble on it by accident and get drawn in when they didn't want to is something I'd rather avoid. I really appreciate it!

Yes, I don't think you should bring politics into this thread.

Anyway back on topic, it's really nice that the game is better in practice than the trailer gives it credit for.

I was reading the reviews on Steam which are all really positive. One guy said that it takes all the best elements of his previous three games and combines them into one which I think is really cool.

I can't say I'm surprised. He has been doing fine games with crappy graphics for how many years now? So this has not changed =)

In a few years, I'll research the game carefully to make sure there are no game-breaking bugs, like in Drox, and then I'll consider buying it.  Or I'll be suckered into it as part of a bundle.  Or maybe as a GoG franchise sale.  Or something.
But until then, I'll stand firm on my slightly negative wishy-washiness!

Back to the topic of the game, I've gotten an NPC who has the "carpentry" skill and makes gates which came in a lot of handy as I kept getting invaded and the enemy were chewing through my gates.

After that world I haven't been invaded nearly as much, but she's really good at making gates and seems a bit too dedicated to her job.
By that I mean she's been making more gates than I'd ever really need and I've had to sell and/or break down most of them before they ate too much inventory and storage space.

It's been a net positive overall as my town now almost always has the strongest gates, but I think I'll have to temporarily put her on guard duty or let her have some R&R for a while before she floods my inventory and storage with gates.  :P

Substantially better visually and audibly. Good going there, Soldak! However, the low framerates in the latter half of the video are still a killer.

This game is so good!  The last 20 updates since early access started have really added a ton of stuff.  I wish someone who knew how to make a proper trailer could help them out with marketing.  But at least this one is definitely better than the last one!

Less than 1000 players at present -- yikes.  https://steamdb.info/app/408960/graphs/

I hope they manage to get things picking up.

Compare it to Grim Dawn, the same genre, has similar graphics and price.

Wowza.  Then again, those guys have had since 2013 to build up that 250k+ playerbase.  It was also a less brutal market back then, evidently.

The designer of the game also has sort of a cult following, as it shares a lot of similarities with the somewhat classic "Titan Quest" and sequel. I suppose Soldak has a following too, but I've heard he's made some decisions that have angered his fanbase in the past.

edit: Steam also doesn't advertise Zombasite AT ALL. I wouldn't have even KNOWN about it if not for this forum. I see Grim Dawn advertisements all the time.

Compare it to Grim Dawn, the same genre, has similar graphics and price.

For reference, Drox Operative (Soldak's last game) only has about 10,500 owners on Steam.  Din's Curse has about 15,000.

I don't think they are expecting Zombasite to do Grim Dawn type numbers.  Soldak is a 1 man studio.  Crate Entertainment is substantially larger.  This comparison isn't really fair.
