I tried as many permutations of the numbers 3, 2, and 4 as I could think of and I couldn't find anyone. I tried it without the numbers but of the two, one was russian, and the other was long since inactive.

What state is DotA2 at?

It's something I intend to dip my toe into but if it's still in the beta stage where it's all the veterans playing I don't want to start experimenting yet.

I consider myself an average LoL player but I've never played DotA so....

A new MOBA game to try sounds so exciting! I have changed my mind and want to jump in with the vets. The baptism of fire shall cause me to improve much faster then if I tried playing with scrubs at start. I'll start reading up on it now so I have a clue what I am doing.

At the moment I would say most of the community is still somewhat veteran - A lot of the people have come from dota1 or HoN, meaning they will berate you on your first game because you dont know how to build someone, with the justification "ITS JUST LIKE HON IDIOT".

I've lately taken to not playing any moba without a significant group of people (3+ in a queue), partly because of this, and partly because I really like my league team, and am too lazy to learn how to play soloq again.

 in retrospect, this seems to be an entirely negative comment recommending you avoid dota.. I mean, if you are interested in the genre, its a good game worth trying. It has decent enough matchmaking, which I assume can only get better as more people start playing. I find it fun to mess around in with friends, doing silly things (did a KOTL/zeus lane the other day, was pretty hilarious)

It's funny that I think my teammates were berating me, but they only bothered using acronyms, and I never said a word, so the lack of communication just lead me to being ignored which I liked.
