So Speaking of SimCity

Last I checked it's 18 days now since US release, 14 days since highest game speed is locked, while 7 patches came out, the last one (1.7) which broke many more things than it fixed.

Since then, total silence from Maxis ;) Is this the case of a intern patching the game while the real coders moved on? Because the fixes so far look like it.

Hopefully moved on to creating the game people actually wanted in the first place, but I won't hold my breath.

Hang on, what did 1.7 break? I thought it was mostly about adding a bit more intelligence to the brain dead AI? (Though some people have been reporting Taxi madness introduced in this patch...)

Street cars now "disappear" randomly and literally can glitch for your entire region at once. ^^ For people depending on them in their building this is game breaking ;P

Also shoppers can get stuck forever now (or maybe they could before, but now I see it) when they queue up at a stop that is not serviced (see bug above..). They wait forever, that's not a joke. And the next day when they don't come back, these houses all die off, but the shoppers don't disappear.

They also still did not fix a little small issue with commuters, when commuters don't get back in 1 day a new set of commuters is spawned, meaning if you have a traffic jam, the traffic jam multiplies forever. (Until you quit playing Sim City and do something better with your time ,p)

It's like I'm watching a train-wreck in slow-mo, and then when it looks like the accordian-effect is settling down and it's probably not getting worse a spaceship hits the trains at relativistic speed.

As somebody who had no interest in sim city previously I have to admit finding all the news about it hilarious.

Now if they did a remake of my beloved simant. I might become horrified instead.

I still want a proper sim-space (ie, planet colonization and space-station building ;p)

Not that it's quite that, but what did you think of Light of Altair?

Meh I played it I think... but considering I have no good opinion that I can remember it must have been nothing that gripped me. Only thing I remember was that I thought it was too much puzzle, and too little game.

Currently I am saturating my urge for space sim building with Kerbal Space Program and dozens of mods (Kethane, most importantly) so that I can build space station like mining vessels with kethane mining drones, rover miners and stuff ;) But I have to admit KSP is very hardcore and so far all I got to was the 2 moons (Although I got into orbit, to the first moon, mined kethane, flew to the 2nd moon, mined kethan, and actually flew back to Kerbin with the same lander and landed under engine power with no parachutes (although, that was because I actually forgot to put them on) Now I want to get a huge space-station into geo-stationary orbit so that I have the perfect launch position for long range travel..... ;D

Although atm I am just messing around building massive 30 ton tank like rovers that can fly, mine and dock with stuff. And have huge tank reserves (but so far all I could do was a build a heavy rover with 4 giant engines that can do 2800 Vmax and in atmo... and a TWR of 1.3....

(that's 1600 Vmax too little to get into an stable orbit around Kerbin)

Anyhow, Just saying but.. Kerbal Space Program is by FAR the most addicting game for me. Except that still needs it's game (And they will do that in due time.. until then I gotta learn how to do interplanetary transfers.... last attempt I was off by 2° and 5million KM.... bah ;p

And now you've reminded me of learning how to do Hohmann Transfers in Orbiter.

KSP is the Dwarf Fortress of space sims. That is probably the warmest recommendation I can give it.

I've been quite interested in it for a while. Now that it's on Steam's Early Access thing I might pick it up. I just hate buying games that are still early in development.
