You play Scrolls online against other players, or offline in a campaign mode. Each player chooses a selection of scrolls, representing creatures, spells and structures under their control, and chooses where to place them on a game board.

“The board is divided so that you control one side each.” says Jakob. “As your units attack, they charge across your opponent’s side of the board and will damage him unless blocked. As every unit comes with a variety of different abilities, it’s not as simple as just placing your units in front of your opponent’s to feel safe. You will need to pay close attention to the positioning of you opponents units, siege weapons and building and adjust your strategy according to that.”

Sounds like Guardians of Graxia.

I'm not so sure about Scrolls...I love a good online game, but this one looks a bit lame! I prefer an MMORPG myself.. ::)

I could justify the cards back in the days (eons ago) when I played Magic, because they were at least collectible and tended to appreciate in value.

It's for this reason alone that I haven't looked into this. I think the pull of Magic and the like was the tangible cards and their value. Digital cards are worth exactly what you pay for them, when you pay for them, and then nothing at all. It might be fun for awhile, but when you realize how much you spent on cards a few weeks later, it would lose its pizazz, at least for me.
Games found in my toy chest: KOTR, Halo: Reach, Red Alert(yeah, old school) and my rubber ducky.

Although as a counterpoint, we're getting more and more into the era where digital 'things' can have actual tangible value to people. Look at the history of selling MMORPG items on ebay, or more recently the market that Team Fortress 2 has created for unusual hats. People paying hundreds of dollars for a virtual hat that glows purple is an actual real thing that happens in the world we live in today. If they could manage to tap into that rarity market, they might have something. Although I still don't really have any excitement for this game.

As i recall, Mojang stressed the point of not giving undue advantage to the players who pay for their cards. I cant remember where i read it, but I'm pretty sure i read that most or all cards that you could buy you can also win from playing the game.
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!
