Procrastination is a terrible habit.
« on: September 14, 2012, 02:46:56 pm »
Had a while to write a paper. Decided not to for the first week. The second week, I was incredibly preoccupied for a few days, and the last couple of days, I was very sick and had to write it anyway because deadlines stink.
Don't ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Procrastinate.

...I'm sure you all do it too. Any other terrible stories we can all laugh at each other over?

Why do tomorrow what can be done the next day?

... okay. Point taken.

I've got more to say but it's too much to think about for now. I'll talk about the rest later.

Yeah, I did this way too often at the local community college I went to. That stopped when I came to the current university I'm at right now, but it is really hard to fight procrastination. Especially when you don't want to do it.

So many long nights....so many long sunday nights. x_x.

The thing is - once and again, when you actually GET AROUND to do something in many cases you realize that it's not nearly as painful as you thought it would be agonizing over necessity to do it through the whole week and wtf did not I do it on the day 1 and spare the pain?

One helpful tactic I learned (or at least heard) in stated from Chris is to find something you need to do but want to do even less, and procrastinate on that by doing the other thing that you were previously procrastinating on.

My suggestion, whether it is a programming project (I was a computer science major) or a written paper (didn't get many of these), at least put something down on the page. Something. Even if it sucks. Even if it's wrong. Just put something down.

... All of a sudden, a lot of the software I've seen from adobe and microsoft (and others)... makes sense! ;)

And some of the stuff I've written, too...

But yea: just getting started, however badly, can often deal with most of the problem.

that is absolutely brilliant.
Unfortunately, I cant seem to find anything that I want(edit: And need)  to do less than write that paper I need written.
