Excel Solver - Help
« on: February 16, 2010, 11:06:29 am »
I am completely new with using Excel Solver, and I require some help with this assignment I have for a comp-apps class [that I try to approach independently].

A walkthrough or solution would be helpful--I'll still try to work it out until I find the actual solution for this.  This post includes the

I am guessing:

Target Cell:  $G$22
Equalto:  0
Change Cells:  $B$13:$F$16
Constraints:
$H$13 = 0
$H$14 = 0
$H$15 = 0
$H$16 = 0
(Is this right?  Can it also not be compounded into $H$13:$H$16 = 0?)

However, I am missing the row for the cost of sugar; there are multiple plants that offer different prices, and I am not sure what to use as a formula because it refers to multiple cells--of course, unless I have everything wrong.  I know the basics of Excel, and have yet to really use multiple formulas (and we're not really taught).

See GuideInformation slide for the original instructions.

Thank you in advance.

EDIT:  I must be daydreaming--the target cell should not be 0, but rather minimum cost for fulfilling the demand.

EDIT:  I'll need more help with Lumber Mill too--I'm all FUBAR on this one.  Are we supposed to add additional columns...?

Aren't the units also wrong, if we are required to do speed(ft/min) and cost($/hour)?

Sigh, for those who can help, and with extra time, please offer a guide.  Thanks again.

I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.
