SEIV was the better game, but with Balance Mod, the gameplay was actually more, well, balanced in SEV. I never really tried enough trawl through the mod-swamp to get anything reasonable for SEIV. But yeah, I still have the retail discs for both games. ^_^

sorry to say, but you gotta pirate an older version and patch it to 1.91 ;p Since Steam version is by default to 1.94 for which I never got a merged FQM and Proportions mod to actually run. Not sure if they run without each other, but who wants that!

FQM works just fine with the Steam version. It's part of the devNull mod pack which is even included in the Steam install (It's the Gold Edition, so it's got a bunch of mods already in the directory).

I didn't even realize there were MoO2 mods.

The GoG version of MoO 2 actually has the fan patch already integrated with it.

I know FQM works with Steam, what doesn't work is Proportions merged with FQM (on 1.95/1.94 anyway) ;/

Speaking of gog.com's sale. Star control. Yay or nay?  And if yay the 1/2 or 3?

Also spelling out yay like that seems wrong. Yae maybe? Who knows!

I still have very fond memories of both 1 & 2.  Never played 3.  Star Control 1&2 are top-down 360 space dog fighting games with each races' ships having unique properties.  There is a campaign that's fun, plus just random battling if I recall correctly.

Starcon2 also has an open source version, and has had it for years. (theres even an HD version being built)

3 was not made by Toys For Bob. Aside from people looking at it as its own thing instead of a sequel, theres very little positive I've heard about it.

I actually enjoyed 3 quite a bit, largely because I played it when I was young, had lots of free time, and the only external "review" I had on it was a friend who glowingly recommended it.

And the experience was genuinely great.

I've played a bit of The Ur-Quan Masters a while back, and I've got SC1 on my Genesis. Both very fun games.

I really liked starcon 1. It was a really cool strategy game.
Starcon 2 (and urquan masters) also really good game, but I felt the replayability was a tad poor (due to everything being almost the same)

I actually havent played it in a long time, maybe I should try it again.
