And the Kickstarter is now finished, just shy of the second stretch goal of $165 000 (they hit $164 ish with Paypal donations counted in). Awesome! They even said that with coming so darn close, it's likely they'll make the second stretch goal anyway, if they get the time.

I just saw their latest "in development" video (unfortunately private only to backers atm) which shows the car getting sliced into pieces by lasers. It looks freaking awesome ^_^

The alpha version (private for high backers still) was released today. I can't wait to get home and try it out.

Well, my friends and I need a racing game, and this looks like the most promising one within our price range (and probably in general, I've never been a fan of the "super simulators" or Grand Theft Auto Style).

It's been a few months since the last post on this game. Any last thoughts before I pull the trigger?

I've been playing off and on (mostly to avoid burning myself out on the game before it leaves BETA) and the game is still great. The improvements keep on coming and Workshop support is also a nice feature. I can't think of anything outstanding to warn you off about it. It's still beta obviously so you might notice something quirk up but I can't think of what that would be. MP is where most of the content is as the solo/story hasn't been finished.

How's the replay value in multiplayer beta?

Are there a lot of tracks and content to keep people entertained for quite awhile?

There's 20 or so tracks in the base game, depending on how you count (some are only available in some modes such as Tag) but the workshop is PACKED with tracks of which most are made by passionate and long standing members of the Nitronic Rush community, now moved over to Distance. There are, as far as I know, over 100 tracks in the workshop at present, so content is hardly lacking.

Most tracks try to find a gimmick too. Some are focused on giving the players multiple routes to try (almost turning it into a bit of maze-racing) while other focus on the twitch skills of avoiding obstacles etc. There is definitely no lack of content.
