It occurs to me that the kind of excellent people who like AI War have probably got excellent taste in music also.
Anyway, for those of us who have a last.fm profile and want to share the goodness, here is a thread.

Mine is  http://www.last.fm/user/rundblick

Funny you should post this right now. Last night I was looking for an old post I made some time ago on another blog somewhere. I googled myself, and found my post.

In my search I noticed that there seems to be one more vonduus on the internet. It surprised me, I have reason to believe that I am the one and only vonduus, but then, you never know, it is a big world. Anyway, I checked the links, and found that somebody had signed in on last.fm in my name and posted his/her favorite songs. That's all I was able to find from my doppelgänger, all other google hits could be traced back to me.

I listened to some of his/her favorite tunes, and could soon tell that he/she was not me. So if you should happen to come by VonDuus' profile on last.fm, then know, that this isn't me. Not that I dislike what my doppelgänger listens to, it kind of leaves me indifferent. I used to be a professional musician, my whole life was pop and rock music, but I got fed up with it, and today I find most music quite boring. What I do like is a bit more hardcore, I tend to analyze anything I hear, so I want something complex enough that it makes my brain overflow and stop analyzing. I am the kind of guy who like to listen to Lou Reeds Metal Machine Music.

I really can't bother with complaining to last.fm over identity theft, or worrying if I am becoming schizo without realizing it myself. And I really can't bother with making my profile on last.fm, as I almost never listen to music on my computer.

What I can do is give you a short list on what I listen to:

Frank Zappa, especially his late xenophonic works, they defy any analysis
Captain Beefheart, especially his early works
Brian Enos coincidental works
Richard Wagner
Arnold Schönberg
various longhaired so-called 'classical' composers, like Boulez, Ligeti, Stockhausen, Cage, Berio, Nørgård, Crumb, Reich, Schnittke, Pärt and Abrahamsen
folk music from the balkans
and a lot of obscure contemporary artists from the electronica/techno/noise scene. My son introduced me to this, he is creating tons of organized noises on his computer.

Recently I have also listened a bit to John Williams, I always thought he was a bit retro, but a friend played some of his newer works for me, and I realized that he is actually quite innovative.

Seems we have similar tastes. There are some in your list I have not heard, so I will check them out at some time.
Thing about getting older is that you think you know what you like, so I always try to find something new that I have not heard. Last.fm is good for that.

I looked at the doppelgänger VonDuus on last.fm. They look pretty new.

Similar thing happened to me once.
I was a very active member of a yahoo group a few years ago and then I was inactive for a while, when I returned I discovered that another user had joined with a name similar to mine but with an underscore in, other people in the group had been having conversations with him/her thinking that it was me. Nobody really noticed the difference, which probably says something....
When I returned and commented about all these 'conversations' I had been in without even being there, the usurper was very apologetic and offered to change their name.

I changed my name instead as I always kind of regretted the name I had anyway.....   :)

It is probably Nørgård, Pärt and Abrahamsen. Not many outside Scandinavia have heard them. Not many Scandinavians have heard them for that matter. That is the penalty for not being mainstream: Noone knows them except a few feinschmeckers, who adore them. If you like Boulez, as I see you do, you will certainly like Abrahamsen. Okay, I might be biased, he taught me all I know about music theory, so I owe him ;D.
