The number of games that deteriorate to kiting at high difficultly levels is too high to count. I'll admit I didn't find the combat exciting. But again - it isn't so bad that it should be a reason not to play the game.
Mostly, the game is a dungeon exploration game, with puzzles and an interesting environment.
