I just read about this on
RPS, who say that it made the audience at the GDC feel very uncomfortable. There seems to be no actual violence in the game - just a car going down a fixed track, with standard rhythm game design - but all the actions, visuals and sounds manage to bring up a sense of... violence (I want to put in a synonym, but can't think of any).
I was just thinking the other day that it would be cool to see more unpleasant games. Not games that deal with unpleasant issues, stories or whatever - we're doing ok there - but games that just feel horrible to play, the game equivalent of the harsher ends of noise, jazz & modern classical (speaking of which, one of the devs is the bassist from Lightning Bolt). Hopefully this is a start
