But does he also happily talk about how he stuck probes into an alien's brain to get information out of it?

He's too busy making fun of the engineers.

There was a certain 'small' ufo flying around in range of my main base. I sent interceptors to sink it but it kept landing, waiting til my ships ran out of fuel, then picking back up, moving a few hundred miles and landing again. Once my condors had refueled I'd send them back out again only to have the same thing happen. This went on for another 3 or 4 times. I don't typically like engaging non-crashed alien ships, especially at night, but this b*stard was taunting me. I'm killing them all with grenades just for sport.

I really wish it would let you strafe landed (non-crashed) ufo's.  To be fair, the original didn't let you do that either.

At this point, I wouldn't be opposed to a third option which reads "nuke it", which does exactly what it sounds like, along with any political repercussions you can imagine.

That's what the backstory says they did with the first one.  Multiple nukes, actually.  And, while it did crash, it was largely intact.

Which begs the question of what "Airstrike" means in the game.  Saturation nuclear bombardment?  Or maybe the one in the backstory was one of the really big ufos.

Of course, I'm sure our chief scientist would be up to the task of designing a suitable hybrid nuke that would do the trick.  And the alien commanders would high-five while they watched us super-nuke our own planet.

Well, we can make them crash. I'd assumed we just bombed it with munitions until it crumbled with backup Condors or something. (or once researched, the used alenium the replaces said munitions)

Just did my first alien base mission. Great tense battle. I had two soldiers left to take out the control room. Bust in with a stun rocket which didn't work, and ended up winning a shoot-out against three psionic alien guys that I've forgotten the name of. I was really counting on winning this to give me a bit of a cash boost, but ended up with a measly 30 grand... WTF? I get more than that clearing small crash sites. Probably didn't help that I took a tank along and proceeded to roll over whatever alien technology was in my way, but still...

Alien Bases are much better when you get most of the tech out of it.

I guess I got a little carried away! Should probably swap the tank out for a couple of extra soldiers next time.

Well, I blew it. One misplaced stun grenade took out three of my guys and I ended up wiping on an alien base mission. Lost all my top soldiers, and weaponry. Sent my B-team, couldn't find the power core, wiped again. Ouch!

I tend to look for the command room first myself, I remember a function that shows you more of the map if you hold that place, i think?

Oh, yeah. I read about that, but completely forgot about it.

Look on the bright side, at least no humans survived to tell the story of the grenade snafu.

The aliens probably posted the security footage of it on YouTube though.
