You're lucky, all I've ever seen civilians as thus far is cannon fodder, or worse, FOOD for the zombies.

I don't remember the Reaper in EU, which means they only appeared in the very late game, or it didn't make much of an impact.
You mean you never had the pleasure of running across these? Or if you didn't play the original, these?
They show up in essentially every terror mission.

I only play XCOM games in ironman. Aka how they are meant to be played. Incidentally I've also never actually beaten an XCOM game.

The problem and the cause may be related. :P

More seriously, you're probably better at having people survive than I am.

I'd play ironman more if I didn't make so many finger-slipped type interface errors.

Also, if I wasn't such a wuss ;)

Why must you people tempt me so.

Edit: currently playing dark souls 2 for my "masochistic/trolled by dev needs" but now you are temping me with xenonauts.

I too have Xenonauts on my wishlist, but I can be patient. The Steam summer sale is distraction enough for the time being.  :P

If you think Xenonauts looks good but have not played the original XCOM, I highly recommend giving it a try. It is only $2.50 on Steam at the moment. I recommend then using Open XCOM with the game files you get from Steam to fix most of the bugs and to improve the playability of the original.

Just faced my first Androns. Ho. Ly. Crap. I'm not even sure how I survived that mission but are you kidding me game?

Keith you're telling me you tried hitting one of *THOSE* with a baton? You've lost your freaking mind. It's official. I'd have a slumber party with a Reaper before I even attempted anything so silly as that.

Maybe we're on a completely different wavelength because the alien officers may have seemed obvious to you, but I literally took one look at those Androns and I knew what they were. Trouble. I lost my favorite HMG squad because of those metal b**tards. I thought I was doing pretty well until now, then I realize how woefully ill-equipped I was. Whatever they throw at me next is probably going to be the death of me.

Was it the androns themselves being dangerous, or their weapons? I remember them having something that wrecked Jackal armor.

Four times in a row.

Possibly the stats are very different: my ballistic weapons hardly scratched one, buy my sniper with a precision laser can one-shot one.

I'm not sure what difficulty you guys were playing on, but on normal they Androns are absolutely beastly. I shudder to think about the next two difficulties.

Once you get electroshock grenades I imagine it's easier, so on the higher difficulties that might be a priority.

Those grenades are great, btw, kind of a combined stun+flashbang+kills-electronic-stuff.  And they seem much more reliable than guns at moderate-short range as a means of downing targets without vaporizing them.

This is finally released. Fully finished? Nice! Been waiting for a while. Ironman/Normal for me, I think.

Yep, I was waiting for that too, and I've been very satisfied in its done-ed-ness so far.

Oh I had those long before I even met the Androns. I don't know how many I need to kill one, but generally just *shooting* them down was a more effective solution, and that isn't saying much :D

Interesting.  Maybe normal is really a ton harder than easy then.  I just did a crashed-ufo mission vs androns and used electroshocks for most of them.  All were one-shots.  One time I actually took out two with one grenade inside the ufo.
