If they see Xenonauts, they might be disturbed.

If they read Ender's Game, they will be terrified.

Okay somebody explain why, when I casually threw a Flashbang at the second aliens you encounter, the "lizard" soldiers, they spontaneously explode. Nothing in the autopsy report about that. Dude. EXPLODE.

Edit: Nevermind, that flashbang must have hit a ship reactor or something which took out everything with it.

By the way, why didn't anybody warn me that this game makes EU look like a game of Minesweeper *looking at you Keith*.

Overall a lot of fun so far. Excited to see what else is in store.

Can someone please explain why I can pick up alien assault rifles and pistols off their dead corpses and use them for the remainder of the mission, but then they simply disappear from my soldiers inventory and base inventory after that O_o, seems a little fishy.

They're usable, but you can't reload them, so theres no point in holding onto them for more than research when you have both usable and reloadable weapons of your own. They're like very awkward to hold pewpew grenades.

Yea, the research guys said you could use them but due to anatomical differences your soldiers would have difficulty hitting the broad side of a barn with one.  So you're better of with human-manufactured weaponry.

Hmm I don't know, I was using them pretty extensively last mission (when I accidently found out I could LOL) and the firing accuracy didn't seem more worse than normal (that's not saying much, these ex-Navy Seals couldn't hit the Ghostbuster's Stay Puft Marshmellow Man), but maybe I just got lucky :P

Either way, it's a small gripe. I'm sure that sooner or later I'll be making my own.

Next time I'm assaulting a crashed alien ship containing a single-corridor-entrace room of relentless campers, please someone remind me to throw a grenade and just blow the damn reactor instead of permanently losing 4 squad members in an attempt to breach and clear.

Holy cow, what a costly mistake.

If I haven't used it already, i usually fire my stun rocket into the ufo if theres a clear shot past the entrance room. Makes it a bit harder to actually get in unless I wait, but there have been plenty of times where I've been lucky and the aliens just run right into the cloud and sit there. After that I know that either theres a trap inside still, or a few less aliens. In the small ones if you shoot it into the reactor room (not at the reactor, of course) it fills the majority of the room with gas.

Yea, storming a position is... fraught with peril, you might say.  That said you might not have to blow the reactor; I think some C4 can open new opportunities, and bombardment via stun rockets/grenades work on many aliens.

And there's always the old "rookie with armor and shield for facechecking" approach to drawing fire.

In the end-mission summary it tells me that the corpses (and live aliens that the research team didn't need, if any) were "Destroyed", whereas the plasma pistols and whatnot list a sale price.  Is that not what you get?
Welp, oops. My mistake.

The last of these tends to die 90+% of the time if a Sebillian officer grenadechucker is alive in the ufo.

Isn't that what rookies are for? (look of genuine confusion)

They're more useful if they can get the entrance hallway door open though, so i can shoot through it. Which for me, almost always involves staring down the grenadier hidden in an officer's hat, and I've lost more soldiers to sebillian ufos than nearly anything else so far.

Hmm, yea, that would be an ex-rookie, for less reward than the desired rookie exchange rate.

I've taken to blowing the initial entrance door off with the recon tank's laser, and in the cases thus far I would be able to hit the next inner door in a similar fashion, but I refrain to preserve the shiny lootz.

I'm sure I'll run into bigger UFOs soon, at which point I suppose I'd resort to C4 and/or rockets if dynamic entry became necessary.

Or, possibly, a rookie with shield, armor, and a several bricks of primed C4.

You did warn me profusely that the game was difficult. That was the joke :P
