I really do feel bad about this.

Interestingly the lizard and the civvie left the same color pile of goo.

On the conga-line cover, two questions:

1) Why isn't the shield guy carrying a grenade in the primary slot (takes fewer TU to throw one in-hand) rather than that worthless pistol?

2) Why aren't the guys towards the end of the line turned in different directions to help spot those reapers creeping up behind you?

Reapers can't creep up on me, in that instance at least, because that wall was flush with the edge of the map :D

Good point about the grenade, I'll definitely do that from now on!

They can teleport behind you in later stages though, very annoying ;p

At least there isn't much evidence left.

Two months in. Still alive, and handling the ground battles well so far. I keep losing money, though. I think that's where I'm going to come unstuck.

Just fought my first Andron. Tried stunning it, which didn't work. Shot it a few times. Not dead. Parked my best soldier around the corner from it. First reaction shot from point blank with a laser shotgun. Not dead. Second reaction shot. Still not dead. Thought I'd seen the end of Dora Kaiser there, fortunately managed to get a third reaction shot off which finally took it down. Phew! Encountered my first Reaper, too -- the return of the Chryssallid.....yay!? That was my first bloodbath mission, losing 6 operatives. Managed to just win it by exploding everything in sight. Who needs alien technology anyway?

Unfortunately I seem to be losing the Geoscape battle. Not enough cash, scientists, radar, aircraft etc.

I just lost the game on ironman mode (AGAIN) because of an unfortunate encounter with reapers. I knew they were on the map, and had planned for them down to the minutest detail. I patiently waited for them to come to me as they mindlessly slaughtered all the civilians, but I had my team in position, covering every angle.

Unfortunately, I forgot to check around a certain corner (well actually I *had* checked it a couple turns prior) and one of them came around in range of my shield. Unfortunately he was equipped with a grenade, not a gun, so he couldn't react, and the shotgunner behind him whiffed 3 shots in a row. After he died it caused a chain reaction which eventually turned my entire squad into a bunch of mindless zombies. Such a ruthless game, I love it!

Read the quickstart guide. The key is building more radars. You want 2-3 major bases with 3 aircraft in each. Shooting down the UFOs on the geoscape map is what keeps your cashflow high so you have to maintain wide map coverage with as few bases as possible to keep gaining money.

Yeah, I made a note to get radar coverage early on, but didn't push it enough. Currently got 2 bases, one with three radar the other two. No coverage in America, though, at all. Last mission I got wrecked by Reapers, too. Total wipe for my B-team. Gonna be a tough month!

Sometimes, you just gotta explode everything to make it back out.

Yep, just send in 8 guys with rocket launchers and tell the labs to work on a weapon which harnesses your chief scientist's whining.

The Tearcatcher 9000. Though to be honest, the scientist in this game seems a lot more apathetic than the woman in EU. You could almost see her glaring when you brought back a crate full of raw hamburger.

Yea, with this guy all you have to do is tell him he's brilliant and he'll forget all about whatever complaint it was.

We'll have to weaponize his smugness, instead.
