Legitimate Online Jobs/Opportunities?
« on: August 20, 2010, 05:12:03 pm »
Since job searching IRL isn't going well, I thought I might as well ask the community here if any of you know any legitimate money-earning opportunities on the internet.  I'm not interested in the usual bullish, ie. referral-based, 'pyramid schemes' and the like, but rather something that's realistic and that earns a respectable amount.  Since I literally have no experience, it would be best that you provide jobs that anyone can qualify for.

I have heard of some possible opportunities involving surveys (usually unrewarding), Google's Adsense (if had a mainstream website...), article writing (don't know here, but aren't these just based on how many views you get, ie. advertisements again)...

Meh.  I feel a bit useless here as I'm basically leeching from my mother.

Most I have seen and/or contacted require some experience into their respective areas.

If it wouldn't require experience nobody would pay you money for it. ;)

Generally you need 2 to 3 years either self-taught or properly taught experience with anything before you can start earning money via freelancing (10000 hour rule) . Theres only 1 method to earn money through honest work, acquire a skill that other people need and don't have (and would pay money for!). The more you do it the more experience, the more money.

I actually wrote something before and deleted it again - because what you say is that you have 0 experience, but thats besides the point - what are your SKILLS? Any attempt at earning money would require you to have a clear idea on what you are good at and exceptionally good at. Then start looking for work in that direction. If you have nothing you are good at then its time to find something you are good at ;P

At forums.tigsource.com, artists are in high demand if you're one of those. You could do some freelance work to get by for at least a while!
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

I did some surveys once, it was very boring and paid very little.

Which is ironically true (sigh, this is always true), but I was hoping that there was something out there that doesn't require said experience, an 'entry-level', but of course during this time I doubt there are any, or they all have been taken by other job seekers.

What am I good at... I suppose nothing really useful but I'm fine with constant office-work type of job, as I'm on the computer basically all the time recently anyways (would give some meaning to this).  Customer-service, higher-to-lower write ups, articles and such I would find interest in.

I'm afraid I lack of any type of artistic talent.

I figured that they were just like that.

Thanks for the posts, everyone.

Hehe, don't mean I do not find some of em boring ;) (and a lot of them seem to be horribly badly written, at least the Norwegian ones I have done).

I am sure it pays better to write em then to do em tho.

I guess playing soccer for a living is a lot more fun, and a lot better paid ;) But you probably can't play soccer on-line.

Ozy, we are many here in Denmark who still remember how you demanded to be paid less. Kudos for that!!!!!
