Legends of Pegasus
« on: July 05, 2012, 09:52:48 pm »
Anyone check this out yet.  I've been keeping an eye on it for a while and it looks like it might be ok.  They haven't put out much in the way of videos and stuff.  Just went up for prepurchase on steam today.  Did see one message on their site that raised a red flag with me.  Someone asked about beta testing and one of the devs said due to time constraints they weren't having an open or closed beta.  Looks interesting though.

I watched the gameplay video for this. My first thought was "Sins with a Story" - something they've obviously acknowledged themselves from the strapline, "Forget your Sins! Become a Legend!" (That made me chuckle and roll my eyes in equal measure at the end of the video.)  It looks like it's got a bit of Gratuitous Space Battles in there too, which could be good.

Oh and, "Real time terraforming!" - ha! Real time!  :D

Ohhhh bad joke bad joke. I salute you.

I've barely looked into this game except for seeing pretty screenshots and figuring I'd give it a proper look once it's released on Steam. I assume by real time terraforming they are trying to say that it will take a realistic amount of time? Interesting if true, but unless the game has some sufficiently advanced magic-tech that means hundreds of years to see any sort of changes. I'm guessing the average game is going to run into the millennia range? That could be fun.

Yea, kinda how I feel about Distant Worlds: $40 for the digital download version, no demo (iirc) ... um, no?

And it's a pity, I think I'd really like it, but that's a lot of money to drop unseen.  Or so it feels to me :)

I feel the same way as well.  Legends of Pegasus looks like it may be good but there's a distinct lack of any gameplay videos.  Distant Worlds is the same.  Looks good but $80-90 or so for game and both expansions is a little steep.  There's rumours about another DW expansion by the end of the year.  Hopefully they put the game on sale to drum up sales.

Well, Pegasus hasn't been released yet so I'm sure more gameplay videos (other than the gameplay trailer) will be forthcoming once people get their hands on it!

One of the Kalypso people on their forums said they're going to be releasing some gameplay videos before the game comes out.  Looks very interesting though

The problem is those folks, and no offense in general, have no success story with this genre. I'm optimistic, but how likely is it that the folks who produce Tropico know a damn thing about 4x? I'll be waiting for the demo.

Well one things for sure, if the devs didn't read our endless talks about how to make a proper 4x game this one will be fail one way or the other, probably more than one way too ;p

I think we need to find a developer/team willing to take it on. 4x done right would be game of the year material.

It's being developed by a new indie company "Novacore Studios".  Apparently this is their first game.  Don't know anything about them at all but maybe they have some experience.  Check out their site but don't say much about them.  Looks good but most of the videos and screenshots they've put out so far seem to be mostly battles.  Looks impressive but don't tell much about the game.  Definitely be keeping an eye on it but will probably wait until after it comes out and see some gameplay videos and reviews.
