Wikipedia: "Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a class of technologies[1] that are used by hardware manufacturers, publishers, copyright holders, and individuals with the intent to control the use of digital content and devices after sale;[1][2][3] there are, however, many competing definitions."

Basically, DRM-free means you can download and share as much as you like, rather than having to have an account on Steam or Origin or something.
