is dungeon of the endless worth getting?.
« on: December 18, 2015, 08:48:30 pm »
I've heard a lot of good about this game (a friend of mine also has recommended It to me in the past)  it also looks up my alley but I've heard a lot of complaints about their other games( endless legend and that space thingy I cant remember) so I thought it wouldn't hurt to check here before hand?.

Wait, what?  "Endless Runner"?  ....is that the actual name, or...?

Typically "endless runner" is a genre name, you know, games like Temple Run on mobile.   Never heard of a game that actually has that name, and searching for it just brings up pretty much what I expected...

Unlike their other games it's simple and fast to play. It's actually connected to Endless Legend and Endless Space but mostly in gameplay terms. You've got four resources (Food, Science, Industry and Dust) that you need to manage, just like in those games. In this game, those stats are used to buff your heroes and build turrets. Think of the game as something like a cross between an action RPG and a tower defense game. I like it well enough.

thanks I honestly wasn't expecting real feed back at this point (pretty much my own fault of course but regardless) since the games on sale and I was just about to purchase it still if you'd told me it terrible I probably would have cautioned my self on it a bit.

I just bought it myself, because it was there and I was bored.

So far, my experience has consisted of the following things:

1,  dying

2, confusion

One problem is that the tutorial is VERY SHORT.   It hardly tells you anything, and then says "Dont worry, you'll learn the rest by dying!" which is always a great omen but not at all unexpected in anything that's whatsoever similar to a roguelike.

I havent played it all that much yet, partly because it's late, but will spend some more quality time with it tomorrow, but from what I hear, there's a TON of content in it.  Quite alot of game for the price it's at right now.  I bought the game and got all the DLC and stuff.  I notice some characters from TF2 are in there, because.... because TF2, those characters being EVERYWHERE seems to be half the reason TF2 exists.  Gotta love Valve for that one, really...   I only messed with 2 of the characters though so far since I barely even know what's going on.

One thing I REALLY like though is the ability to pause and still issue orders.  I think every game should do this, really, when it's RTS-ish.  I dont have to worry so much about inaccuracy with the mouse (particularly right now, as the thing is damaged) or pain from wildly waving it around.   So that's good.

I'll post more impressions later.  But this one looks really promising.   And impossible.   I mean, seriously, I died on floor 1...

I've played it a bit, seems to have a fairly high luck factor.

yea one thing that keeps getting me is that I keep forgetting that the game is half tower defence I keep forgetting to properly prepare my defences and on the tf2 characters yea that's a bit random I'm rather fond of the heavy though he's like the thug except he doesn't move at a snails pace.
