Introducing the PC2!

At first I thought this was pretty hilarious, and then I realized how depressingly true it is - http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/06/08/new-gaming-system-revealed-at-e3/#more-61700

I don't know.  The idea has humor potential, but it mostly came across as "Oh look, RPS is trying too hard again to be cool" to me.  I'm not sure why they do that sometimes, because when they just write about interesting games, their stuff is generally great.  That felt like he was actively trying to be pretentious, which is probably even more annoying than when someone just is that way normally (like I am!).  I did chuckle at this, though:

I think it's a valid critical spotlight on the massive decline in non-graphical qualities that games have been suffering over the past years.

While that point may be perfectly valid (in some cases, at least), it's been better made many times before.  It's also frequently less well made to the point that I've kind of gotten tired of hearing it over and over if it's not particularly clever, or better yet includes some sort of proposal of what to do about it.

But we're the PC Gaming Master Race, we HAVE to be pretentious!

Oh, I know.  And now that I've had a nap and am less cranky, I see the truth of that.  But apparently I haven't been awake enough yet to say that pretentiously.  Heh.

More accurately, controllers need auto-aim.  Plug one into your PC, and you'll have just as many issues without auto-aim as on a console.  I don't actually have a problem with auto-aim for people playing with controllers, because it makes it (barely) playable at all in the first place.  What really does bug me is when it's on by default in the PC version of cross-platform games.  I remember having to dick around in a bunch of config files to disable all the auto-aim and mouse smoothing options in Borderlands, for example, which I should never have to do.

I guess I am one of the minority who is more accurate with a controller then a mouse, auto-aim on or no.

Blasted shaky hands  :-\

Hell, configuring the graphics in that game needed config files too.
