You'll also notice that there is no Exodus Of The Machine in this schedule.

While that's a shame, I did read in the Exodus subforum about how that game would very possibly not appeal to enough people and how Arcen's latest strategy games have been super-successful so they'd focus on that. Admittedly, while I'm far worse at the strategy games, I would rather these guys be really successful and have, say, 3 or 4 incredibly well fleshed out games with years of work behind em.

While I think the original concept for Exodus of the Machine was interesting, it might be possible to change the concept to a strategy title? I have never played Oregon Trail, so i'm a bit ignorant about it, will look it up on the net and see what it says, but a different strategy game within the AI universe might be interesting. Say how Fallout Tactics compared to the original Fallout.

Perhaps EoM could use a planetary background, and interaction between the humans and the AI, it would give not only a different feel, but would use probably different units, perhaps the humans and the ai in a basic non-ship form?

I'm just pulling at straws here, because it seemed an interesting extension of AI War, though, perhaps Kieth and Chris would prefer a 'Genesis of the Machine', where they could leave EoM as they originally envisioned it, and produce a different form of strategy game for a AI War tie in?

These are just ideas and thoughts,

Well like, you could probably maybe try to restructure the similar-to-oregon-trail kind of gameplay and have it play more similarly to Fallout, for instance. Fallout or Fallout 2 are really cool potential ideas. It'd just take a lot of reworking, and by that time, we'd probably have another Valley Without Wind (where the game changes incredibly drastically during development, then ends up being made separately in its original form anyway).

Yeah maybe you are right, maybe its best just to let it stay the way it was envisioned originally.

Yeah, we'll let them handle the internal work and just give them ideas that they glance at and maybe slightly consider without bringing it up in front of their colleagues before eventually dismissing it and working as usual.
What blows my mind and always does blow my mind is, look at this release schedule. There are no more than 2 months between each major release.

Yeah, we all know it's not humanly possible. I personally think, it's magic, but there were also rumours about special time compressing device that Arcen people employ.

I thought exodus was a better idea than skyward. Maybe with the tighter release schedules they can make money off that.

My favorite titles so far, AI War>tidalis>shattered Haven>Valley without wind>skyward

Yeah, but the thing is, whether something's really cool or not doesn't actually matter. If people won't buy it, then they won't buy it. Unless Arcen does employ magic and a time compression device, it might be a bit hard to make games that result in net losses.

Magic aside,  :)   I think that Keith had the right of it, when he said that it appears that between AI War and Skyward Collapse, that the great majority of players have an interest in strategy titles from Arcen. More so than the other titles they have made, which more than sort of puts the pressure on them, in a making money and paying bills sort of way to concentrate on getting some strategy titles out there and seeing if they can keep the momentum going with making a living.

So, EotM apparently was an interesting concept, but not oriented in a strategy direction. Which expanded the universe and the Lore perhaps but was fundamentally a different kind of game.

I still think a strategy title spin off, like a Fallout Tactics, say as a top down, on the surface of a planet, say earth when the ai was first constructed and rebelled (a Genesis of the Machine, so to speak) might be an interesting strategy/tactics title for them, but they would have to fill out a concept first, and then do a review of the forums probably to see if there might be any interest, enough interest to actually build the game for.

Anyway, that is just my two cents and i'm a player, not an armchair general, no matter all my suggestions.  :)

Yeah, something along those lines would be kind of interesting to see.

This.

And here I thought since the new AIW expansion is Vengeance of the Machine, it would involve a tie in with Exodus of the Machine.
