Who knows what the number of skulls they give you for victory depends on?

In short if you don't let any orcs through the rift you get 5 skulls every time. there's a link on the Steam forums to the full scoring mechanic used in the game too (can't spot the link right now, but it *is* there! Sorry!)

Strange. I didn't let a single orc get through and neither did I die, but still four skulls only.

All levels have a par time which you need to beat for the final skull.
