So, while it was on sale, i picked up Sins - Rebellion. While i have a general idea of whats going on and what was good in normal Sins, I am having trouble figuring out what to focus on , so if any of you guys have any ideas and suggestions, I would appreciate it!
... I know that they have a forums, but I *like* the people here.
Thanks!
I played Rebellion for a bit, but was pushed away but how
SLOWLY everything happens (I guess it's not just me). Even with every setting maxed out, it seems to take forever to do anything.
Anyway, my suggestion for new players is to build a Capital Ship strategy. Start out on a small 1v1 map. Immediately clear out and take the planets around you. Research Ice, Fire, or Sand Colonization if you must. Make sure you always use your Logistical Slots, those are extremely important. For example, I usually rush Refineries when playing the humans, then put one on every planet I own. It makes your metal+crystal output go through the roof. If not Refineries, then you need the equivalent for credits instead (can't remember the name now).
After you get a little income going, upgrade your unit and Capital Ship storage levels. Once you get about 3 Capital Ships and a handful of guys, go attack an enemy planet. He may win the first fight, but the nice thing about Capital Ships is that they have a lot of health, so if even you "lose" the fight, you can kill most of his guys, go heal, then come back and finish the fight, and maybe get a few levels in-between.
Another really nice thing about the Capital Ship rush is that you always have lots of damage to bombard an enemy planet with. Normally, with 1 Capital Ship it takes freaking
forever, or you have to build those otherwise completely useless bombardment frigates.
Let's see...what else? Early on, let him win the Pirate Bids. He'll waste his money and it's free experience for your Capital Ships anyway. Later on, once you're beating him, then you should have more money. Outbid him on every Pirate Raid, and then once the raid is sent and is attacking one of his planets, hit another planet so that he can't defend both at once.
I usually research the metal and crystal node upgrades because it's a cheap way to increase your income by a lot, especially with Refineries. Sometimes it's best to pick 3 of the same Capital Ship (Carriers for instance), because then you can research military weapon upgrades for those ships specifically, increasing their damage by a fair amount. Picking 3 different Cap Ships works too, sometimes you can have great synergy between them; it really depends on the race.
I don't know, those are my tips for 1v1 games against the AI.
