I assume he means you have one "stack" regardless of how many units are in it. Rather than having a stack every 100 units say.
Yes, that's what I meant.

Obviously just that one change wouldn't leave HoMM in a workable state, I'm just comparing it to... well, basically every other terrestrial strategy game I can think of, where a square can either hold an individual soldier or a group up to a certain defined-by-troop-type size.

The HoMM way just feels off to me.

Incidentally, Clash of Heroes was my favorige Might & Magic game. And it's more of a battle puzzler than a might & magic game. It's awesome though. Probably not on gog.com though

I've wanted to get that game, so thanks for the link... though for some reason that page won't show a price or a buy button.  And GMG's search feature won't bring it up (searched for "might magic", "might and magic", and "clash", and only the last gives any results, and this game isn't among them).  Maybe it's a region... well, clash.

I'm actually tempting myself to delve back into that game now.

Probably. I own it twice already so I didn't try buying it to see.

It could also be GMG ran out of keys for it. They have that problem occasionally, and just hide the buy button until they get more.

Beat CoH yesterday. Has a slight match 3 smell, but the strategic possibilities keep it fun.

I like the writing of King of Dragon Pass, but given just how random things are, the fun is limited.

When I have three points in war magic, 2 blessings, and a 3:1 ratio against the enemy, I expect to win my battles.
Life is short. Have fun.

Silly players, thinking they can win ;)

Reminds me a bit of a game of oregon trail a few weeks ago.  I was going for a safe banker run and was doing quite well.  A couple legs from the end, though, I get a wagon fire that wipes out over 700 food (i.e. over 35% of the entire wagon's capacity); leaving less than like 50 units left.  Shortlly thereafter I'm hit with a "lost trail, lose 9 days", wherein I'm eating food each day but can't hunt.  Thankfully I did a bit of hunting inbetween and so still got to the end without losing anyone, but the hunting was another pile of hair-pulling randomness (whaddya mean every single spawn chose to come in at an angle that involved blipping on the screen for 0.3 seconds and bouncing off a tree and back off the screen?)

I enjoy the gameplay, but stuff like that keeps me from coming back.

Funny how players never complain when the huge upset works in their favor. ;)

I've seen it happen, if it short-circuited an battle they were really enjoying.  But yea, less likely to raise complaint there ;)

I saw that, but I don't really like games with lots of zombies.

Erm, you know you can split them if you like, yes? But I'm having a hard time imagining why would you *want* to?
