Flotilla

I don't know if any of you have heard of Blendo Games (Small one man indie developer like Chris), but they just recently released an XBLA (And Windows) game called Flotilla, just thought I'd post it here (Seems to me people who play AI War might also find this game interesting).

http://www.blendogames.com/flotilla/

It plays like Amazing Space Venture (Randomly generated galaxy with random encounters that are all kinds of silly. I helped some Pirate Cats blow up a White Collar Criminal Pig and steal his cargo) with a Homeworld-esque combat system (Fully 3D, only with a GOOD control scheme, unlike Homeworld). It's semi realtime, meaning both sides give orders to their ships (Where to move, how to orient themselves, who to shoot at) and all ships make their actions at the same time. It's streamlined down to the point of being very quick and easy to pick up, but still hard to get really good at. The Campaign is pretty quick too, so it makes excellent for getting a quick space combat fix. No online multiplayer yet (Only split screen) but I've certainly been having loads of fun with it.

This looks quite the game, I was into Homeworld 1/2, and from the videos it has an interesting mix to the gameplay from other RTS games.  Saved for future reference!

Thanks for the post, Echo.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

It's a great game with loads of style to boot. What I really like about it is that you can get as much out of a 15 minute session as a two hour session. Perfect for when I don't have a lot of time to game. I do love AI War, but I really need a good couple of hours to get into the groove of things, so to speak.

Also, make sure you check out the free 'Gravity Bone' by Blendo as well. It's literally a 15 minute FPS, but it's one of the most stylish 15 minutes I've ever had the joy to play.

I haven't given it a try myself, but I thought it would be worthwhile to point out that Flotilla is now available on Impulse: http://www.impulsedriven.com/flotilla

As I said, I haven't played it, but I checked out the media on the game's website and it sounded rather interesting.
