The skyrim ui is *ok*.

I feel like a lot of the time pc players forget their keyboard is actually really good at navigating menus with. Even with ui mods, I feel like keyboard navigation of ui is still the best option >_>

As an ontopic note - I've been considering getting a xbox controller for games like X3. Kinda waiting for x-rebirth.  I dont really play fps games on my pc (not a huge fan of the genre tbh, outside of 'casual' gaming). I heard xcom's controller ui actually fixes some of the camera issues I think? How good is it?

But what if PC players prefer navigating menus with that other standardized computer input device that everybody has? I actually feel most comfortable with inventory management with mouse. I can just jump straight to anything in any box that I want to jump to, if you think of a good mouse UI as Morrowind's inventory and such. This is getting to the point where it's not a fantastic argument, but I feel like that should at least be a valid, doable option. If it's borderline impossible to use a mouse in the menu, then it's not a great menu. Same way with borderlands 1. I always have to switch to keyboard to navigate the menus and inventory manage because nothing else works very well at all. Should I be forced to just because the port was awful?

@zespri: In my opinion, the first thing to do is find a mod that fixes the leveling system.

Slightly off topic, but can't resist. Personally the first mod I would need for an elder scrolls game is one to make the gameplay actually fun ;)

Base game has that functionality, actually.  At least in Morrowind:

1) Get a really powerful mage character (you can just take alchemy and merchant as primary skills and be high level by the time you leave the second town, if not earlier)
2) Craft a spell that gives as high a +jump as possible with a 2 second duration.
3) Climb to the top of the pyramid in that big city near the river (Vivec, iirc) and point towards the city on the other side of the river (Ebonheart, iirc)
4) Run towards the other city, cast spell, mash jump button.

There, whatever the result, you had fun :)

(though you may want to mod out the cliff racers or whatever they're called first)

Well, I think it's more than just the leveling system that keeps the game from being fun to me. Bland combat is a huge factor though other things too. The leveling system really did have me scratching my wait as I thought, wait its best if I -not- use certain skills until I level unless I want to gimp my character. Wot!?

As to Keith's idea, it sounds like it would either get me dizzy or kill the character. Though sounds amusing at the least either way :D

You're catching on!

I don't think I ever actually died doing that, but YMMV.

The "falling down" effect on impact in First-person view gave a really good sense of "Oh yea. Those legs? Totally smashed."

There's that too, I prefer making my own as a recastable spell.

Well.. Seeing as you could sit around prettymuch any trader and make an infinite amount of poisons that apparently everyone wants to buy, money was pretty irrelevant.
