: Evil Factory - Bomberman meets Bullet Hell
: TheVampire100 February 07, 2017, 07:41:40 PM
I think this would be something for Misery and I think for other people on this forum as well.
Evil factory can be best described as a mix of Bomberman (the classic one) and Bullet Hell fights. Every level is a boss fight in this game and every boss has set attack patterns that you have to examine, analyze and learn to dodge. The first boss has a very simple pattern to understand but the game gets harder and harder with each boss. The game is segmented in multiple chapters and at the end of each chapter a "super boss" waits for you that is even stronger than the normal bosses you fight.
To defeat the boss you can plant dynamite (like bombs) on the ground and lure your enemy on to it. Later you get other explosives and secondary weapons. Explosives have unlimited use, secondary weapons can only be used for a limited time per level.
You can also upgrade existant weapons if you find the required blueprints for them.
The game is entirely free to play but has a "action point" system that allows you only to play a set amount of levels until you have to refresh (over time) new action points. Or you can simply pay a small microtransaction and remove action points entirely (you can consider this the "full version" of the game).
I think for a free game this is really cool and while it may not appease the hardcore bullet hell players, it is a nice casual experience with cool looking art and bosses. Also some kind of story that you can skip if you want to.

Edit:
You weren't kidding about this being tough. The 3rd floor has been brutalizing me.  Wow.  I almost had it dead and then moved a little too much (I'm not a fan of virtual joysticks).

That's the penguin, right?
I remember having a tought time with that one.
Just wait until you reach the final boss of the first chapter. That guy gave me an headache.

I'll probably give it a try myself as well if I can manage to squeeze it onto my stupid ipad.  I really need a new model with more space considering the sheer amount of stuff that I end up installing on it.

Yep. Beat him later last night. Final boss of that chapter is where I am now.
Also a headache.

that looks interesting but ill have to pass since the closest thing I own to a phone/ipad is a ds which I pretty much just use to play fire emblem really.

That reminds me that Nintendo released a free Fire Emblem game on iOS as well.
However, I will probably pass this up because I have to remidn myself how aweful they handled their first iOS release (Super Mario Run). Now THAT thing was just aweful.
And I don't talk about the "play three levels and pay 10$ now" part. I mean that the game is the most bland, boring and unfun runner game I ever encoutnered. And the whole genre is already very boring to begin with. The game even takes the only difficulty out, you jump automatically over small gaps and enemies. No need to press the button. Ever.
They shoudl have taken notes from the Rayman Runs eries, Ubisoft did it right.

I'm deep into the Labs now, beat the bison. Took me three tries, IIRC (got run over once and electrocuted once; dumb movement on my part, due to fuzzy virtual joysticks and not really having a decent deadzone).

Elevator took me a few tries mostly because I did stupid shit, but the bullet patterns weren't hard.

I'm up to five helmets, too.

wait realy? thats pretty silly but i would hope they that the ios fire emblem game is decent especially considering how easy the series control scheme would be to adapt.
lately my laptop committed Bushido and now with it being repaired and having no real way to play pc games I've been fire emblem awakening rather obsessively along with fates when it arrives which I've heard good things about despite the bizarre way the game was split up.

Stuck at Level 24 at the moment. I hate this boss so much. I don't even have a clue what weapon I should use against him.

I had trouble with the armadillo. Uh. Unbreakable.
He's got a weak spot but it's super annoying to figure out where/how.  Funnily enough I had figured it out before I went looking for help but for some reason I'd never managed to deal any actual damage to him, making me very confused.

: TheVampire100 February 11, 2017, 06:18:25 PM
You have to break the armor of the weak point. After that you can deal damage to him (but still only to that point). It was the most annoying biss I fight at that point.
It's easier with later weapons but not with what you have at that point.
It's even more harder because he positions himself so badly and you bump more than once into him.

Oh, I've beaten Chapter 2.  It was just that one fight I'd had, I'd completely broken his armor, but still hadn't managed to deal any damage to him, and the fight (before I died) lasted like 4 minutes.

Watched a guide video for the boss at stage 24. Haven't tried it jetzt but this might actually help.
Ugh, this one is really frustrating, as if one of them wasn't already annoying enough.

I'm up to 16, but I've been trying to figure out how to get 3 springs to drop from 15.
*scratches head*
Not sure there is a strategy, even...
: Re: Evil Factory - Bomberman meets Bullet Hell
: TheVampire100 February 12, 2017, 02:25:58 AM
I'm pretty sure there isn't when it comes to drops but what you can do is reach a higher combo count. Higehr combos grant rarer drops and springs are somewhat rare.
To get a better combo, use weapons that hit multiple times like the molotov for example.
But other than that you have no control about what you get. You might just end up with gold medals instead of springs. It's a bad design choice to make some helm dependant on lucky drops.
: Re: Evil Factory - Bomberman meets Bullet Hell
: Draco18s February 12, 2017, 02:44:58 PM
That fight main weapons can't reach.  You're limited to the environmental and subweapons.
: Re: Evil Factory - Bomberman meets Bullet Hell
: TheVampire100 February 12, 2017, 02:56:53 PM
Oh, that one. I don't even know why I have that, I guess luck?
I would use the baseball machine because it regulary fires at the enemy and you should get a good combo. Place it in the middle and wait until it runs out. Don't use the harpoon until the subweapon has run out, you would waste the ammunition.

: Draco18s February 12, 2017, 02:58:23 PM
I've been trying with the grenade launcher and the flame thrower (haven't bought the baseball thing yet).  None of the times I've gotten full-use out of it have I gotten any springs (and scarce few drops at all!)

You could also do the final boss of that chapter and get the rocket launcher but that thing has a very long setup time. But it's good for combos and deals huge damage. It's probably the best subweapon in the game.
If you don't get the helmet, I guess it wouldn't be that much of a loss.
Here is what you would miss:
+5% damage on main weapon and +4% damage on sub weapon.

I have to say, the game soundtrack is amazing.
But surprisingly expensive for so few titles.
https://jukiokallio.bandcamp.com/album/evil-factory-ost
4€ per title or 26,25€ for all 7.
I don't know the price in USD.

I've got the rocket launcher. I've gotten as many as 2 springs using it.
And yeah, not missing much. I'm more trying to be completionist (I am not getting the sewers 4-starred though, ever).

I can relate to that.

"Complete in 30 seconds" I seriously doubt is possible.

For the sewers, put the grenade launcher away and run! If you zig and zag through the floaters you can make it in about 20 seconds.

Dat soundtrack tho. <3

Also, TIL the Apple store doesn't allow videos. What the heck?

The soundtrack is awesome. Also I made a mistake about the price, it's 4€ for the soundtrack and 27€ for the entire collection of all his songs (ffrom other albums).

What do you mean, Apple store does not allow videos? For trailers?

Aye. I looked at both GPlay and AppStore, and appstore had no video. That feels weird.
: Re: Evil Factory - Bomberman meets Bullet Hell

I'm pretty sure you can put videos on app store but many don't do it. For reasons, I guess? Wouldn't surprise me, when you have to pay extra on the app store to put up a video. It's just the sort of thing that apple likes to do.

For a moment, I actually thought that last message was legit, until I saw the signature. These spambots are getting cleverer. Yes, that's now a word. Shush.

I'm so tired of those bloody things.

Most of them never actually get to make comments, but that's only because I'm frying like 4 or 5 of them per day before they can do anything.

You'd think that their idiot creators would try to make them less super noticeable, instead of, you know, having super obvious, really dubious links that are clearly advertising stupid crap in the signatures...

Every now and then there'll be one that gets by because until it acts I cant tell what it is, but that's very rare.
