Evil Factory - Bomberman meets Bullet Hell
« on: February 07, 2017, 07:41:40 pm »
I think this would be something for Misery and I think for other people on this forum as well.
Evil factory can be best described as a mix of Bomberman (the classic one) and Bullet Hell fights. Every level is a boss fight in this game and every boss has set attack patterns that you have to examine, analyze and learn to dodge. The first boss has a very simple pattern to understand but the game gets harder and harder with each boss. The game is segmented in multiple chapters and at the end of each chapter a "super boss" waits for you that is even stronger than the normal bosses you fight.
To defeat the boss you can plant dynamite (like bombs) on the ground and lure your enemy on to it. Later you get other explosives and secondary weapons. Explosives have unlimited use, secondary weapons can only be used for a limited time per level.
You can also upgrade existant weapons if you find the required blueprints for them.
The game is entirely free to play but has a "action point" system that allows you only to play a set amount of levels until you have to refresh (over time) new action points. Or you can simply pay a small microtransaction and remove action points entirely (you can consider this the "full version" of the game).
I think for a free game this is really cool and while it may not appease the hardcore bullet hell players, it is a nice casual experience with cool looking art and bosses. Also some kind of story that you can skip if you want to.

Edit:
You weren't kidding about this being tough. The 3rd floor has been brutalizing me.  Wow.  I almost had it dead and then moved a little too much (I'm not a fan of virtual joysticks).

I'll probably give it a try myself as well if I can manage to squeeze it onto my stupid ipad.  I really need a new model with more space considering the sheer amount of stuff that I end up installing on it.

Yep. Beat him later last night. Final boss of that chapter is where I am now.
Also a headache.

That reminds me that Nintendo released a free Fire Emblem game on iOS as well.
However, I will probably pass this up because I have to remidn myself how aweful they handled their first iOS release (Super Mario Run). Now THAT thing was just aweful.
And I don't talk about the "play three levels and pay 10$ now" part. I mean that the game is the most bland, boring and unfun runner game I ever encoutnered. And the whole genre is already very boring to begin with. The game even takes the only difficulty out, you jump automatically over small gaps and enemies. No need to press the button. Ever.
They shoudl have taken notes from the Rayman Runs eries, Ubisoft did it right.

I'm deep into the Labs now, beat the bison. Took me three tries, IIRC (got run over once and electrocuted once; dumb movement on my part, due to fuzzy virtual joysticks and not really having a decent deadzone).

Elevator took me a few tries mostly because I did stupid shit, but the bullet patterns weren't hard.

I'm up to five helmets, too.

wait realy? thats pretty silly but i would hope they that the ios fire emblem game is decent especially considering how easy the series control scheme would be to adapt.
lately my laptop committed Bushido and now with it being repaired and having no real way to play pc games I've been fire emblem awakening rather obsessively along with fates when it arrives which I've heard good things about despite the bizarre way the game was split up.

Stuck at Level 24 at the moment. I hate this boss so much. I don't even have a clue what weapon I should use against him.

I had trouble with the armadillo. Uh. Unbreakable.
He's got a weak spot but it's super annoying to figure out where/how.  Funnily enough I had figured it out before I went looking for help but for some reason I'd never managed to deal any actual damage to him, making me very confused.

You have to break the armor of the weak point. After that you can deal damage to him (but still only to that point). It was the most annoying biss I fight at that point.
It's easier with later weapons but not with what you have at that point.
It's even more harder because he positions himself so badly and you bump more than once into him.

Oh, I've beaten Chapter 2.  It was just that one fight I'd had, I'd completely broken his armor, but still hadn't managed to deal any damage to him, and the fight (before I died) lasted like 4 minutes.

Watched a guide video for the boss at stage 24. Haven't tried it jetzt but this might actually help.
Ugh, this one is really frustrating, as if one of them wasn't already annoying enough.

I'm up to 16, but I've been trying to figure out how to get 3 springs to drop from 15.
*scratches head*
Not sure there is a strategy, even...
