Hm, didn't care for it much, then? Any specific reason?
Well, there was a couple of reasons.
-Withheld informations: So many items don't tell you jack about their effect before you grab them and sometimes STILL don't tell you anything after you picked them up. One of them I decided to look up online and honestly, even with another 100 hours of playing I never would have guessed its effect. That's one aspect of Isaac that I disliked and it seems even more prevalent in Gungeon. That was probably made worse by the fact that I played Starward Rogue, where 95% of the items have a very detailed description that tell you upfront what an item does and its side-effects if any.
-Reloading: I'll try to avoid ranting about it for several paragraphs. I just don't think it brings anything of value to the game and only wrecks the pacing. It's not making me act any more strategically or making the game harder, it's just wasting my time. And personally, it annoys me that I can't reload by holding the fire button. I have to let go and then press it. I get that some weapons might have effects on reloading that you might not want to trigger when you don't expect it, but I still don't like it.
-Tanky enemies: Everything has so much HP, making room clearing so slow and putting even more emphasis on the reloading mechanism. Makes it pretty unsatisfying when a shotgun shot to the face doesn't kill some lowly enemy.
-Spawning enemies: The game tend to spawn those extra enemies right in your face, if not right on top of you (which is what happened the very first time I saw them). Not a fan of that.
-Useless clutter: Apart from useless destructibles, most rooms don't really have much to offer. Kinda boring.
-Enemies attacks: It was nice to see that the Bullethell tag wasn't just for show, but the patterns were often uninteresting and forgettable. Just barfing bullets in my general direction. Bleh. Although there was that iron maiden enemy that caught my attention. Nice and clear puzzle-like attack. More of that please!
-Visual style: In my opinion, the game's visuals aren't the best for visibility/clarity, especially when compared to super clear games like Isaac and Starward Rogue. All the exploding clutter certainly didn't help in that department...
And that's it for the main reasons. Getting sleepy, but I don't think I forgot anything major, so time for sleep. zzZz
