Dungeon keeper ported to ipad

Apparently they did they best to turn a great game into steaming pile of in-app purchase galore.

I hate to say, but the iAudience are not exactly gaming aficionados. They more than likely have no idea what's going on, do not know anything about the industry, and play their games like little kids play with shaving cream. Things like micro-transactions probably seem normal to them, like every other Facebook piece of crap. Sad to see dungeon keeper drop the soap in the iPad gaming crowd, but if you really want to play it, go to GOG.com like I do.

The problem isn't that EA dumped dungeon keeper into the mobile market, the problem is you can't play it with any sort of decent timeframe when its really expensive to dig out the map. About 70 pounds for 56 of the hardest tiles, and then the entire rest of the map is still there, undug.

Oh yes, is not to say that dungeon keeper couldn't be enjoyable on iPad, just that iPad gamers don't tend to know any better about what to expect from their experience. Micro transactions are a basic fact of their world whereas it's incredibly reviled in the PC gamer world. I basically view average iPad gamers as the unwashed masses who don't know what they are missing. That's what I'm trying to say.

iOS Dungeon Keeper is a terrible game made by a terrible company, but I don't think it's necessary to generalize iPad gamers.

I think Cyborg meant this to be as a sweeping generalization for all the "tablet gamers". To be honest many people in the modern gaming press believe that "tablet gamers" is a new breed that does exist.

Yeah, that video has it right, but it (mostly) spares the audience who purchases those kinds of games, which is what I was trying to say in my post. Yes, the studios who defecate elephant turds like this deserve to be criticized, but the audience themselves who play these games are not exactly gamers with any self respect. Not even the studio thinks so, which is why this kind of thing continues to sell to the Barney's Playhouse gaming crowd. All those people rubbing their sticky fingers all over their tablets to play these uncultured "games" are soon parted with their money, and it's hard not to call it what it is: (properly identified!) fools being swindled by a bunch of talentless, unscrupulous hacks.

A friend played it next to me during a lecture today.

I saw the rainbow-like colourful icons and the WORMSesque font, and I knew what that one was about.
