Well, I can understand it from Microsofts standpoint. It's a helluvalot less headache for them. Now, if only XBLA didn't already suck so bad...but then again, it might be better than GFWL...which is an absolute disaster.

But I digress. Again. Scatterbrain.

GFWL...which is an absolute disaster.
Oh good grief how true that is.  I've seen some pretty complex systems of failure both from the inside and the outside, so I can understand how groups of people working over time can accomplish far more impressive disasters than any one person or short action... but GFWL?  I honestly wonder how they thought that was going to do well.  Talk about genuinely making it harder for me to enjoy the actual product.  I didn't notice any DRM (though I'm sure it was there), just the sheer difficulty of getting those games to work (at all, much less "fully" work with a logged-in profile and all that).

So. Much. Pain.

Totally going further off topic here. But I hate how XBLA has Fez and the new Spelunky HD exclusively. So want to play both of those.  At least there's the regular Spelunky to play on computer (and for free too).

Back on topic, I'll check out defense grid. I'm not huge into tower defense games though, plus I have a mac so would need to boot my windows partition to play it which I hate doing.

I love this game, but don't think I can justify giving 15 for an unknown amount of content.

Especially when I got everything from the first game for 5 bucks using daily deals.
Life is short. Have fun.

...on the other hand, the "You Monster" DLC is pretty entertaining. Doing work for valve does come with its perks I guess.

Pledges seem to be slowing down, slightly concerning...

Nearly $80,000 so far.

Nah, don't read too much into daily increases or drops in pledges. You can always check it on kicktraq if you want to get a vague idea of where it might end up, but don't read too much into that. It's just a vaguely math-based guess, not anything close to a sure thing. In general with most projects you see an initial burst of pledges, then it slows in the middle, and then has another big drive right at the end. They should do fine.

Yeah, I had to fight GFWL daily during my time with Section 8: Prejudice. I absolutely LOVED the game, but the matchmaking, server browser and everything online about it was tied into GFWL and god what an awful piece of crap it was. Sometimes I had to do 15 searches for the server, even though I knew the exact name of the server, yet it would just not find it. Search, search, search, search, search, search, ah, there it is! *join*
"This server is not available." WHAT?
Search. "Server is offline" No it bloody isn't, my buddy is on it right now!

Back to the OP ;)

Defense Grid 2's kickstarter has an update: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hiddenpath/defense-grid-2/posts

It clarifies why they aren't rich (though that was already stated in this thread), how things are going and what they want us, the backers, to do. They also talk about how they are getting all these mice and graphic cards to give away.

$93,000+ :)

Update #2 adds new limited-time tiers. Yay, if only I had more money x_X...

3 days to go:

Less then 2 grand to go.

I admit I am not one to support kickstarters for sequels. At least, not ones that ask for 1 million dollars. Or have tiers for more then 1 grand. (At least no one paid for the things more then one grand. Seriously, 10 grand to meet someone? For 10k I could meet 20 people who could provide more entertainment.)

<Yes, I know the jazz about the sequel coming eventually. But it was so badly executed and the info so delayed that I think it was intentional to encourage more donations>

So the goal has been reached. I'm guessing this one was a bit of close call =)

Yeah, just a bit. It is a pity that it ends here, but they said they are going to use the sales of the DLC to fund the sequel as well as a few other ideas they have. (to those that didn't support the kickstarter) They have every intention of getting DG2 out to us despite not hitting the million dollar goal.

It kinda sucks for them not to reach their full goal (unless theres some explosion in backers), but they've made the kickstarter goal so they'll at least get something, and I'm perfectly fine with waiting for them to do DG2 when they can get DG2 done, I have enough games I haven't finished as it is. :)
