So I picked up system shock 2. Wow the weapon/spell selection is clunky. Do you have to open up the inventory every time you want to change weapons/spells?

Also from the tutorial hacking seems like a complimentary skill but not enough to carry you through the game.  Am I wrong, is it possible to focus on hacking to carry you through the game or do you need to pick soldier/spell caster and take hacking as a support?

F5 and F6 are shortcuts for spell selection. Weapon selection works via number keys.

Hackin will get you past about roughly two thirds of all threads, but it's generally not smart to rely purely on hacking and nothing else. It's definitely one of the most important skills, and you can build your character around it, but dumping all your points in hacking will not just win the game outright.

So I picked up King of Dragon Pass on GoG and it does not run =( The game changes the desktop screen resolution but no game window appears. When kodp.exe is killed the desktop resolution changes back. I'm guessing I'm out of luck.

You need to change the shortcut that points to the game in Windows to be windowed.

It's kind of working now. Thanks.

There is a number of texts that don't feet the space and get cut in the middle so it's quite disappointing that you can't read them to the end, but I'm hoping that it does not affect the gameplay too much.
