Copyright Claim on YouTube.

So, got this copyright strike against my channel today. Yay for automatic systems that don't double check to make sure they are correct. Woke up this morning to a copyright claim on my Shattered Haven LP, claiming that music owned by CD Baby was used in the video. It's a track by Pablo Vega. It's called "Lost Things". This crap really needs to stop with automated systems checking vids on YouTube. It amazes me that it claimed the same song was two different songs by two different companies. You'd think they would design a system to not do that but then, I haven't a clue what they're doing when they check this sort of thing.

I have made the appropriate counter-claim against YouTube, linking directly to the forum post and quoting x4000 as well as informing them that the song isn't what they say it is. Hopefully that corrects this.

Yea, automating the process of finding causes for and generating legal complaints... gee, what could go wrong?

The fact that it can't even correctly match songs, when things like Shazam and Soundhound can, is doubly crazy. Good grief. I hope it doesn't cause too much hassle for your channel in the end!

Just a note, but CD-Baby has dropped the claim. The other company has yet to respond. They have until the end of the month so it may be a while...

Further update on this issue:

The 2nd copyright claim has been dropped after a month and I've uploaded several more videos without any issue. The incident, however, has required that if I'm going to take the time and work on videos, I'm going to get pre-authorization for them. I have more than enough projects to work on right now without adding "fighting YouTube" to that list. I'm also considering uploading to a second website. In addition, after my Shattered Haven series is completed, (which it has, just hasn't been uploaded yet), I'll be dropping my style of Let's play. I'm not happy with it and SH has shown that I do not enjoy it nearly as much as I should.

I'm thinking of doing a different kind of gaming series in the near future but haven't decided on the direction the channel will be taking.
