I am a beta tester for the game and talk to the developer on a fairly regular basis. It is by the same team (a 2 man team in Sweeden) as Dominions 3. In my opinion the game is great but you need to know what you are getting into. Basically it is a turn-based fantasy strategy game with heavy roguelike elements. The games are short and sweet, and you need to keep all your territories defended or they will get taken over by roaming creep or other factions. The game is rough around the edges graphically, but it is very stable. The hallmark of the game is how different the 17 different classes play. Every single one feels quite different. For 9.99, you can't go wrong. It originally launched on Desura for 29.99.
They also patch the game fairly regularly and incorporate user feedback. The guys who make the game have full time jobs so the patches don't come out with Arcen speed, but they do a very good job of fixing what is broken in a timely manner. In the most recent patch they added a new class.
The interface is a bit of a nightmare but not because it is too complex, but rather because it is so old school. You'll need to have a look at the manual to make sure you understand what is going on.
