At least is was fixable by disabling steam cloud. I think one of the mods I used somehow incorporated itself in the save pretty fundamentally and whenever steam synced the save back I ended up with some kind of mod remnant in there.

That said, tunnels are yay (still no weather though), but those European buildings are not very yay. In fact I think Collossal Order took the lazy approach just looked at images of Berlin and Paris and made them by that, but most European cities look VASTLY different compared to the (nearly pre 1939) style buildings that are now in. Also considering back to back buildings are a real thing in Europe, they failed to actually code something in to make sure that T and L shaped buildings properly line up with the other T/L on the opposing road side in a normal 8x8 grid, so yeah... they do not line up, so this looks very weird. In reality obviously back to back buildings are back to back, not just side by side like the game currently does it. So in essence the game doesn't actually have back to back buildings. It has models of buildings that sometimes, rarely, align properly, and oftentimes do not. Making it look very very ugly.

So imo of course, this european style "addon" is free, and has exactly that quality. It actually looks exactly like something you could already have had (even made by yourself) if you had downloaded mods with back to back buildings. But there is no logic in the game to make sure buildings line up right.

Expansion! www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/08/06/cities-skylines-after-dark-preview/

Now with brothels!

(Edit: also, don't trim the "http" bit, as the forum goes "oh, that's an internal address" and it broke your URL)

Ooh.  This makes me happy.

And I'm really glad that they are indeed following the Paradox model.

My bad. The http bit is automatically marked, so if you simply paste, it overwrites it.

To be honest, all I want is official day night cycle (which is free, yay ,p) if only so that the city is bright at night (I already have modded day night, but only with streetlights.. ) the other features they announced seem really meh. Bikes will be a total nightmare in roundabout intersections as well as normal 4 way intersections adding further "stop" situations for traffic as they pass over to change direction. If this is anything like normal walkers then that's gonna add even more problems to busy intersections....

Makes me a bit sad we still won't get weather

And finally, It makes me a bit sadder that there is nothing in there that adds to the actual sim challenge. Once you know what you are doing getting to 50k and beyond is not hard, and by then it's really hard to ever actually fail. I really wish for a more in-depth and logical simulation of industry.... for economic events for boom and slumps.. for actual SLUMS and crime-waves due to poverty. The game is too easy, and this expansion doesn't seem to fix that.

That said, I still regularly play the game... very addicting somehow... despite being nearly zero challenge.

What I find funny is how much people complain about freeways in the game.  People complain that there's always enormous lines for exit lanes, it seems like the number one gripe about the game.  Which...is 100% realistic, because if you need to take an exit, what else are you supposed to do?  Sheesh, just improve your surface streets at the outflow.

I really look forward to any expansion that lets you tweak intersections more.  I'd love to micromanage better, add whole extra exit lanes, and abuse one-way streets more, especially in intersections.  More than anything else I'd love to turn a two-lane road into two one-way roads without an intersection.  I've shelved the game for a while despite enjoying it, and that one last feature would probably drag me back.

So I am gonna push my custom buildings here ;P Discovered that this is super easy with the workflow I have here (3dsmax/c4d) of course, these buildings are not going to be something you see from a AAA developer or artist. But they fit together (unlike 90% of buildings on the workshop)

All made by myself, custom textures and custom models and working as far as I know.. but maybe some glitches with textures (Those are.. really really iffy in this game)

These are matching buildings ;) (So they look better together.. really ,p)

Recycling Plant (realistic) (produces noise)

Coal Plant (cheat) (produces no noise or pollution)

Coal Plant (realistic) (produces noise and pollution)

Please test and criticize ;) But at the end of the day these are for my personal use mainly.. 1 final building missing (sewage treatment) and the feng-shui in my city will be better again....

Here you can see screenshot of both buildings together ,p

Neat. Might pick those up when I dive back into this. However, question: Why is there a cheat version?

Neat. Might pick those up when I dive back into this. However, question: Why is there a cheat version?

Because in an unmodded game, the pollution that a coal plant realistically should produce is an ugly pink nightmare of ugliness on the ground ;) And I play (currently) unmodded, but with custom assets, which unlike mods does not void achievements.... and since these buildings are a set (when all 3 are done) it would be pretty silly if I made set buildings that you realistically would never put next to each other, since a sewer treatment plant is affected by ground pollution -> makes everyone sick.

So that is why there is a cheat version (Which I use because of aforementioned reasons... hence it exists ;P)

...pink? Pollution is purple on the ground, or greyish-purple. Pink sounds like you have aliens in your city pollution, last i looked at the game.

Understandable reasons. And yes, the pollution in this game looks a touch wonky.
